Shotguns don't always kill everyone, the message only says that they were killed. If you have high surgery a good number of troops will survive.

Definitely; sometimes the game reports I died or my companions died. The messages are not always confirmed kills.

    Destroying The Cottonwood Gang

Oh, I thought even capturing their generals wouldn't destroy the faction.... well, should be fun finding out

    Destroying The Cottonwood Gang

I'm not as interested as completing the quest as I am making the Cottonwood gang beatable by normal means. Do you have any advice of where to get started?

    Destroying The Cottonwood Gang

As the quest to destroy the Cottonwood Gang was never finished, is there a way to fiddle around in the game files to allow the gang to be destroyed like any other minor faction? As it is now, I don't think the faction ever goes away, even if it loses all its territory and its officers are...

I figured they were built that way. It leads to some funny results.

What to do with captured leaders?

AFAIK, if there's no gang left to buy the leader, then you're out of luck

    Eventually he'll run away...

    1866 - Bug Reports (v0.9.1 only)

Dont know if this is a bug, but while doing the Bishop Lodge train escort mission, i found these strange wooden walls:

I believe the walls are there to make the mission easier... It's roughly halfway through the train ride, yes? So that way the bad guys from the first half can't follow you to the second half and overwhelm you? That was my way of understanding it.

    Sustaining your own Gang Faction

I'm pretty familiar with M&B, Warband, and our dear 1866 mod. In the original vanilla, it was virtually impossible to create your own kingdom, something that was remedied in Warband. However, since we have smaller Gang factions in 1866, it's possible to eliminate a Gang, take their territory...

    is this mod dead?

The creators, and everybody who worked on this mod, have lives of their own, and they release they mod for free. It's not that they no longer have incentive to work on the mod, but I can imagine it's hard to clock in a lot of work on it, especially since it's in such good shape. There are still bugs in the game, but one has to consider the history of releases and bugfixes, and look at the product we have now relative to earlier versions. I do hope for a future release, but all we can do is wait for word from the modders, and until then, enjoy the game. I'm pretty darn satisfied with the near-finished game we got from amateur (no offense intended!) developers.

TL;DR for the OP: maybe, but we can pray.

    Huh?

From Blazing Saddles, like Rock Ridge.

    Hedley Lamarr: Qualifications?
Applicant: Rape, murder, arson, and rape.
Hedley Lamarr: You said rape twice.
    Applicant: I like rape.

I see, I see. Haven't gotten around to watching Blazing Saddles, I must admit. By the way, I like your numerous references to Electric Six.

    1866 - Bug Reports (v0.9.1 only)

I've seen Deserters fighting other Deserters, but never from the same stock (i.e. Comanche). However, maybe (probably) the game doesn't factor that in, and all Deserters can fight each other. I don't think it's a bug, but it is amusing

You could always go help one side in the fight, then kill the other

    Equipment of party

Go to the Party menu. Click on a named character you have hired (you cannot equip normal troops, if thats what you want!). Say, Let me see your equipment. Then drag and drop. Again, this is only possible with named characters, whom you find in saloons.

    Your English is fine, btw.

Well, I used to play Mount and Blade Vanilla (back when it was still new) on the easier difficulty, but then i was defending a castle with 20 guys against 1000... but if thats what you want, go for it.

If they're wanted all across the west then it does.

Fair point. However, I think your relation with the city in which you claim your reward will go up, when really it should be the city where you started the quest.... anyways, it's a small detail. I'd be more interested in taking bounties alive for more pay.

    Heh, me again....

Anyways, I tried doing a Wanted Dead or Alive quest and knocking the guy unconscious (i.e. taking him alive). There was no discernible difference from killing him.

I think a neat addition would be that taking a prisoner alive (arguably harder) should add "Wanted Man" to your prisoners. Then you can bring him back to the specific town and get a monetary bonus. It doesn't need to be huge, but maybe the posters (and quests) could be changed to Wanted: $10 Dead, $15 Alive.

Oh, and I think you can claim a reward in any town with a wanted poster, which makes no sense....

    1866 - v0.9.1

You know, I'll probably get a few nasty glares for this, but I don't really care about the creators of this mod porting it to Warband. Yes, Warband basically improved everything from the original M&B, but the fact that these guys have worked so hard to create and tweak this mod (and for all we know, are still working hard to perfect it ) and are giving it to us free of charge is simply awesome, and people should appreciate that (many already do, I know). I wish that a lot of the people who post in every topic, "When is this coming to Warband?" would instead provide some constructive feedback or just instigate a nice discussion for the board. Perhaps I'm taking it too far, but a lot of people have worked very hard to give us a superb game free of charge, and it's annoying to read all the moaning that the mod is for the original.

    Harder?

Have you fiddled with the Options? That will tell you your difficulty rating; for instance, I keep mine set at 95%. If Damage to player and Damage to friends isn't set to normal, the game will be very, very easy.
