Spanky, a few suggestions I have to say:
1. Have you thought about adding that script that allows the battle to continue even after you have been knocked out?
My personal opinion is that implementing that would be very realistic; and fun to watch your troops struggle to win the day...
2. In a quest when you are authorized to collect taxes from the village/town, when there is a mutiny against the player, could you discard shields from player party?
As you said Spanky, a good experienced veteran never leaves his sword behind, but what about his shield?
For instance: lets say you and your companion take a walk around the village premises, enjoy the nature, go to the nearest hill, observe the horizon...
and on your return to the village center you are suddenly ambushed by angry mobsters (no, not gangsters with tommy-guns, just good old angry villagers)!
In that whole picture I cant imagine that I would be carrying a shield around...
