    Make sure to set the AI to Good in the options menu if you want non-retarded AI. I think by default everything is set on poor/easiest settings. Tweak with those to match your skill level.

    With lancing, try setting it to manual. This way you can't hold down your W key and kill everything. It requires you to time each couch accordingly.
