TMTAKAPCDDT
Two-Man Team (AKA Pair/Couple/Duo) Dueling Tournament
Overview:
One is the loneliest number, one is the loneliest number, one is the loneliest number that you'll ever do[uel]
Ever feel like there's not enough camaraderie in dueling? Ever think that, for all the finesse in your feints, all the accuracy in your chamber-blocking -- it's empty? You feel numb, cold inside. That existential crisis upon seeing your score, the quadruple-digit hours poured into this game. Can you be redeemed? Yes. Simply join this tournament and discover the flowery power of friendship.
Have you ever felt duels were unfair? Ever join a tournament only to realize, "I can't beat my next/first opponent. What's the ******** point." Individuals are OP. By bro'ing up, we reduce the individual's weight with regard to the duel/match's outcome. Duels become a dynamic team effort, outcomes are no longer set in stone. Dueling becomes fun again.
Make friends. Duel in a refreshing environment. Fair-er matches, yet still room for god-tier/no-lifer heroics. Everyone wins!
("OP teams will exist and subvert much of this" lalala can't hear you)
Tournament Structure:
This will be a round-robin tournament spanning exactly[a given time proportional to team entries] six weeks. (That's two matches per week, with a one week grace period.) If you cannot manage to fight each team within this period, that sucks dude.
Match Structure:
A handy step-by-step guide to completing matches properly: TMTAKAPCDDT For Dummies
Matches are in much the same format as team fencing.
Team 1212 - Composed of Player 1, Player 2
Team ABBA - Composed of Player A, Player B
Round 1: 1 vs. A; Max team score of 5
Round 2: 2 vs. B; Max team score of 10
Round 3: 1 vs. B; Max team score of 15
Round 4: 2 vs. A; Max team score of 20
Matches are fought first to 20. There are essentially four rounds. Each round increases the score cap by five. Once a team reaches the current score cap, combatants change and the next round begins. Each round is fought with a different pairing of combatants, obvs. As there is the issue of one team requiring a player to fight two rounds in a row, teams will designate one or the other as "team ABBA" before the match begins. Flip a coin, do a duel, or preferable just talk and choose as it's mostly trivial.
It's important to reiterate that each score cap applies to your overall team's score. A player can score more than 5 points in a round, if the team is behind.
Match Settings:
- Fastest combat speed
- Duels will be fought on Arena, in the arena
- Swadian infantry; default [you may add leather boots, just 'cuz] or no armor; any melee weapon available to Swads.
- Matches must be played on NA servers -- but EU teams are free, even encouraged, to enter. No promises about ping, though.
Scheduling and Results:
You'll be free to schedule at your leisure. A post in the thread would be nice, in case I or anyone else would want to record a match.
You must post a screenshot or else have your reported scores confirmed by the other pair. Screenshots are ideal. But a hassle, yeah, whatever.
ACTUALLY: Screenshots of each round will be required for your first couple matches. Definitely a pain, but I'll be away, and it's important that matches are done correctly.
Registration Info:
Registration hasclosed. Poor you. reopened, **** yeah.

Player 1 scores no points in the first round. Score is 0 - 5. In the second round, Player 2 (of the same team) wins ten consecutive duels, bringing the score to 10 - 5. It's possible, but not particularly conceivable, that a duelist could come back from a 0-19 deficit to win for the team.
More realistic, yet dramatic, scenario:
1 scores 2, A scores 5. Team 1212 - 2; Team ABBA - 5
2 scores 6, B scores 5. Team 1212 - 8; Team ABBA - 10
1 scores 7, B scores 3. Team 1212 - 15; Team ABBA - 13
2 scores 5, A scores 6. Team 1212 - 20; Team ABBA - 19

Team submissions should go as follows:
You are considered co-captains, so ideally there'd be contact info for the both of you, but it's not vital.
If you cannot make/find a pair but would like to join, post or tell me and you'll be added to a list of other bro-less players. You'll have to sort it out from there yourself.
