Patch Notes v1.2.9

They had an internal discussion and decided sharing news isn't in their current vision of the game. Please refer back to the 2 and a half years old future plans post that hasn't been updated since then for any information. The update will come out when it comes out.
God I really hope Kingmakers turns out really well and either lights a fire under Taleworlds ass or puts them outta commission. So sick of waiting forever for crap updates that fix like 5 things but break 50 other things and add like 2 new things that should have been in the game from the start.

I know this is satire, but it's also painfully accurate. There's no way their community team work more than 10 hours a week. Like, how hard is it to release a road map or provide meaningful updates?

Hard when there's no roadmap or anything meaningful to actually communicate; just a bunch of 'delay' word salads.

Afaik while back it was said the roadmap is stil the same that was in release notes of the game. So go back and re-read that perhaps.

Pretty easy to do, just gotta combine all the responses they've given over the last 4 years.

You mean the roadmap months prior their 'official' release? The one that was barely/minimally 'completed' almost 1.5 yrs after release (and still a lot not complete)?
Pretty sure half of it is essentially 'we will work on improving' existing features with such open/vague/noncommittal phrasing it's barely considered a roadmap.
  • UI sound improvements?
  • Horse sounds?
  • Civ scenes?
  • Encyclopedia info?
  • AI prisoner management?
  • Army AI improvements?
  • Claimant quests?
  • not to mention all the 'new' stuff that's barely a feature with no QoL/meat behind it
Of course it's not all set in stone, and changes/adjustments can happen; writing on the wall, seems like it's all abandoned. What we have is what we got - TW should call the game done the - just stamp out their bugfixes (and there is still a lot of that too).

What/when is this 1.3 patch? What does it contain besides bugfixes to the previous patch? Just 1 scene and armor piece? Will it address, minimally, at least a couple items/issues they 'will talk back with the team to discuss' over the last few years? QoL to the recent additions?

After 2 years and change the future plans post is little more than a bad joke. How something like claiment quests (a feature of their previous titles) isn't in game after being on their list for years is frankly shocking. They haven't updated it because they know they don't have any progress to show since then. The fact that 4 years after launch and their priorty seems to be fixing rare crashes instead of adding features speaks volumes about their capabilites.

the "post release" section... Afaik that post was made same month the game was released out of early access. Which doesn't make it months prior to official release.

Wow that makes it so much better instead of being 2 years and 3 months old it is actually only 2 years old!

In October it would be 2 years. Just to help you with the math... Regardless, afaik it's what they said goes. So. it is what it is. So far they been doing what they said. If you expected something else, that would be on you.

Yeah its really on us for expecting things like dialogue trees that have more options than 'nevermind I'd like to talk about something else' after the game's been out for four years. Real silly of us.

Pretty sure we were all talking about that May 'single player plans' post of theirs; the one months prior to the October release. The one they themselves always point us to reference on what is upcoming to completion; nearing 2 years to that 'plan' of vagary to be fulfilled still.

People ask for roadmap... TW refer to the post release plans... Guess you know better than them then?

I have over 2000 hours in Warband. Suffice to say I am a fan of the franchise. However, I have not touched Bannerlord in a year and a half because, as far as I can tell, nothing of consequence has been added in at least that long. Feature planning and project management for Bannerlord has been an absolute dumpster fire.

Are there worse examples? Sure. But this company had the adorations of the fans of a cult favorite to build upon. One of the highest rated games on Steam. Currently showing #21 at 98%...

And then they shat out this turd and pushed it across the table. They're so proud of it that one can barely get them to talk about it.

The best outcome would be that they throw a few sprinkles on it and call it done at 1.3.0. Then the adults can take over and turn it into something great.

I don't think we ever got a roadmap, not what we or any decently managed company/organization would consider those to be. What we have are the same vague terminologies of games still in EA (ie "we're not done yet but TBD improvements"). Roadmaps have some semblance of a concrete plan, be it what's incoming for the quarters, if not the year - I've seen smaller studios with EA games with better roadmaps and clear communication on it's path to completion (or if will fall short).

They don't even have an idea when this 1.3 patch will be (or even if at this point). Whether another blocker issue stops it going live (to PC as beta only for the next couple months), what's contained in it, what issues are being addressed in particular, what is being abandoned, what's months down the line, etc...

Unless you think what TW has been operating like since post-release perfectly acceptable and normal (even normal in circumstances/context of other game studios nowadays).
