Awesome work so far!

I bet this is probably a bit much, but here is a topographic map of Ancient Rome: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/2/24/The_Topography_and_Monuments_of_Ancient_Rome.jpg

Here's the map of the Forum, which I think should be the starting point when you click "take a walk around the streets:" http://www.old-map-blog.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/11/Rome_plan_of_the_Forum_NatE.jpg

Perhaps the village elder or guild master could be at the rostra or outside the Curia Julia (the Senate House)? http://www.vitruvius.be/curjulia.htm

Have you consulted with ealabor on his project to rebuild Rome for Hegemony? Maybe you guys can piggy back off one another: http://forums.taleworlds.com/index.php/topic,146366.0.html

Very interesting stuff here. While I would love to recreate a replica of Rome. There are several things lacking:

Space - Not nearly enough space on a Map to fit everything.
Time - While a full-scale replica of Rome sounds nice, the 2 Months that it would take do not, nor do I have the resources to do so.
Props - There are very few props in Warband, and specifically, very few variations. It would be near impossible to create a vibrant city without making scenes look awkwardly similar.

I appreciate the links, and while the idea of a historically correct Rome is seductive, I am aiming to make the experience in Rome an experience that is not historically accurate, but environmentally accurate, and enjoyable for the player. The idea is to create a city that looks and feels like a Roman-era city bustling with activity and full of beautiful decor.

As per the Forum. That will be village center. You start walking around the street (as in most warband maps) just outside the city gates. Not exactly sure yet what I will be putting into the forum, if you have any suggestions, please let me know.

I have contacted ealabor per your link, and hope to get a reply back from him soon. If so, I plan on adding his magnificent-looking buildings to the city.

Again, thanks for your post Gewehr98 it is much appreciated.

It depends on how accurate you want to be as regards to a timeframe. The blueprints I included mostly are from the Empire and are the "iconic" look. If you want the Forum from the time of the Punic Wars, this print is more accurate and probably a lot less time consuming:

I would suggest that the Guild Master should probably be on the Rostra or somewhere centrally located in the Forum. Additionally, I'd probably put the owner of the castle (who would be a Consul) inside the Curia Hostilia, as that's where the Senate met in those days.

The Curia Hostilia, 85' long (N/S) by 75' wide (E/W), was oriented facing south. It was a templum, and, as such, was oriented north/south, as were the major temples of Rome. On the same axis as the church (facing SW), but southeast of it, was the Curia Julia. The old Curia Hostilia was dismantled and where it once stood was the entrance to Caesar's forum, which also ran northeast, away from the old comitium.

The armorsmith, weaponsmith, horse trader, etc could be put inside the Basilica Sempronia, which was replaced by the Basilica Julia in 54 BC. There aren't any references left to what the Basilica Sempronia looked like.

Hotlinking to other peoples servers is bad. Also, the link I edited tosses out an authentication error. -RLL

Not a problem!

I will caution you that I think those blueprints you quoted are from a Comitium that no longer existed by the time of the Punic Wars (the green outline in the graphic of the different Curiae). I'm hoping some other Ancient Rome buffs will lend their expertise to this project as well!

Here is the latest set of screenshots:

Includes the Bakery, and Possible Caesar's courtyard. Not sure if I want something more impressive =D.

Being developed to create the BEST and BRIGHTEST Roman Era mod for Mount and Blade: Warband - ROMAE BELLUM

Hey guys, amazing work you're doing with this mod. Just one little thing; the windmill we can see in the image isnt correct at all. Windmills appeared in the middle ages.
Keep on with the really good job you doing with the mod

As much as I would love to, Mount and Blade: Warband does not have a full arsenal of props to use. I am working to complete a city that gives a roman feel. Once that is completed, we can move on to historical accuracy. Remember, this mod is still in Alpha stage.
