WEEK 5: MATCH PREVIEW​ The Warband Summer Cup is heading towards the closing week of the Group-Stage. Twenty teams fought during dozens of intense matches but ultimately only the top 2 teams of each group will remain and make it to the most competitive phase of the competition, the playoffs. In each group, two teams already stood out from the rest of the competitors and will be most likely those which qualify for the quarter finals. The question which is still yet to be defined is the final placing those teams will get, something which could potentially impact a lot their run for the title. Four matches, all detailed by a preview, will decide the seedings of said playoffs. In Group A, the bees from Apis Europae will go face to face against the Polish Eagles while Aequalitas will try to defeat Frontline Tactics to top Group B. The faith of Group C will be decided between Unity and Tilde Turtles while the last confrontation will see Ferocious Trident Wielders take on The Castellans, to finish Group D. FEROCIOUS TRIDENT WIELDERS vs THE CASTELLANS​ FEROCIOUS TRIDENT WIELDERS Team Presentation The last match covered by our series of preview will be Ferocious Trident Wielder taking on The Castellans in what promises to be a tense and potentially really close encounter. A bit like Aequalitas, FTW has proven in previous tournaments that they're capable of upsetting even the team favourites, despite not having one of the stronger roster of the scene. For that reason, they remain mostly underestimated but the very top teams also know that playing against them often requires a special approach to avoid falling into their trap. So far, FTW’s matches have been nothing else but stomps, only dropping six rounds in three matches against Pycb, BRO or Bohemian Guards and clearly showing that Robin and his boys were on for bigger challenges. Such challenge lays in the form of The Castellans, the last of our favorites, with one of the most lethal roster gathered for the Warband Summer Cup and most certainly aiming at nothing but a first-place finish. THE CASTELLANS Team Presentation However and despite their status of heavy favorite of Group D, their matches were not as clean and decisive as one could have expected, considering the huge gap in terms of individual skill and tournament experience compared to their opponents. Where Ferocious Trident Wielders won 12-1 twice against Bohemian Guards and Pycb, The Castellans had more contrasting results, finishing with 9-3 and 11-6. It can be due to many factors such as the team still trying to find their cohesion or more logically, just them not taking matches as seriously as possible since they knew they would have the upper-hand in any case. No matches have been recorded or streamed of either teams so it remains hard to know what to expect from this match, but considering what is at stake, both teams should bring their best lineup coming into this match so we can surely expect some high level of competitive warband. Match unfortunately won’t be streamed but I will record it myself so people can watch it if they wish to afterwards.
