Getting Hoplites to attack in formation.

Hi,
Just downloaded this and wonder if anyone knows how to get the hoplites to attack while retaining formation. When you click charge they break ranks.

Well generally ''charge'' is full scale attack so formations are pointless in that phase.
Maybe you can do this assuming you have hoplites vs hoplites:
Choose a formation.(square maybe?)
Order troops follow you.
''Use weapons at will.'' (applies to infantry in case you also have archers you dont want engaged...yet)
Order to use shields in order to approach enemy with minimal casualties.
Get in arms range progressively and use ''advance ten paces'' to get them in touch with enemy lines while using ''holding position'' or ''stand ground'' orders.

Avoiding all this its better to wait and choose wisely your battle ground and your preferable formation while holding position and ''use weapons at will''.
They will come to you eventually....

Thanks for the reply, watched some of Janko's youtube vids that show this method in action. On another note, has anyone worked out good trade routes?
