Take two equally skilled players and give one a bayonet and the other a sword. The person with the bayonet only needs one hit while the person with the sword needs two. Swords are just too far inferior to their Warband counterparts to actually be viable.

Great, a bayonet player can block all four directions. BUT OHMYGOD, THE PLAYER WITH THE SWORD CAN FEINT! And what's more, he can even block just as easily as the one with the bayonet, maybe even easier! And wait, there's more! If you just like... use your feet, to like... turn a tidbit... you can even block all those spinning spammers!

The sword isn't inferior to the bayonet,
One player's skill is inferior to another's skill. Weapons don't matter. I've seen people take out groups of bayonet people with a damn butterknife. Why? Because all those people didn't pay attention because they underestimate the knife or the player, or, they're simply just stupid.
