Why is it so hard to believe in dragons but so easy to accept dinosaurs?
Wait wait wait wait. I have to call you out on this part,
especially on the bolded segment. While I wont drag this into a whole religion fiasco, this is completely wrong. Throughout the Bible's (and in fact, Christianity as we know it) early history, hundreds of changes have been made. Almost immediately after the death of Christ, dozens of different cults and denominations sprung up. With these tens, even hundreds of beliefs formed off christianity, hundreds of different opinions sprung up. Quotes from their prophet where added, edited, taken out of context, or flat out removed. For many, the entire story that Jesus preached was changed unrecognizably. And, as is habit with such religions, everyone thought they were right, and they didn't like others preaching the wrong interpretation. This soon enough spawned hundreds of bloody conflicts and fights, as well as the torment they endured under the Romans. Eventually, one main sect became the most powerful under the sponsorship of the Roman Empire. Even then, there was great dissent.
Eventually, a fair bit after the death of Christ (around 325AD, if I recall), the Council of Nicaea was called to bring some sort of conscensus in their Bible, if not the whole religion. During this Council, portions of the Bible were further edited, adding some portions from other sects, removing other portions, and eventually determined which believers were 'true' and which were heretics. And this was just the first attempt to reach conscensus by editing the Bible.
So no, it is marred horribly and irrevocably from the original preaching of Christ, and over the years has been edited dozens if not hundreds of times. So, I hope you learned something from this rambling attempt of a speech.
Yours Truly,
TIBERIVS DECIMVS MAXIMVS.
