    I know that bracing pikes makes sense in theory but yeah it's' gonna be op, esp if we're talking about two dozen pikes vs 8 horses. One wrong move and your entire squad literally dead in 1 second, you think that person isn't going to rage quit and make a 5v6? Only way to balance this is to increase horse numbers, which makes pikes too critical.

    More importantly, I think you can kill 2 birds with 1 stone. Spears are hot garbage in most combat right now, they're only slightly good for halting cavalry. Improve spear attack speed, decrease minimum spear stab distance. I think the minimum stab distance in particular prevents the halting cavalry mechanic extremely often as your spears just bounce off and do zero dmg at least 50% of the time.

    And yet I still don't see people *****ing about the 2 handed club being removed from the game due to its historical inaccuracy. My point is that too many people are ass kissing devil's advocates in here, claiming the devs are adhering to a strict policy of historical accuracy when it is painfully clear to anyone with an IQ higher than that of a baked potato that this is simply not the case.

    Everyone in this thread claiming the dev's were aiming for realism or historical accuracy needs to pull their heads out of their asses -> THERE IS A TWO HANDED CLUB CALLED "TROLL CLUB" IN THE GAME CURRENTLY.

    This is a video game, and by nature unreal. I'm sure we could fill up 20-30 pages worth of other inconsistencies with the historical data we have from the time period, so why should the one area where it is "historically accurate" (this is completely up for debate, as historians have disagreeing ideologies) be an area which restricts gameplay?

    No one is asking for every troop in the game have their shields removed, in fact I don't think anyone cares if a single troop type in the game uses 2 handed weapons, but in a video game where there is such a thing as "sandbox" mode, it only makes sense to add as much relevant content as possible and let the player play the game as they please.

    There should be no discussion here. Players want two handed axes, add two handed axes. End of story. Not one single person alive today knows for 100% fact the commonality of two handed axes during the period, and it doesn't even matter because this is a video game.

    If you went into a movie where the sound cut in and out (sound familiar?) or bought a pint but instead they served you pisswater you wouldn't care if it was only a tiny amount of money lost, you'd be furious that you'd been sold short and demand your money back.

    So I've always gotten the "RGL error: Error on creating shaders: Out of video memory" in the past. To reduce it I turned down my settings, replaced sounds.txt with the Native version (advice from mod dev) and I saw the error less often but never entirely eliminated.

    My most recent saved game is getting this error along with extreme loading times almost every single time I enter or leave a battle, making the game pretty much unplayable at this point. I don't need any advice on how to reduce the video settings, increase my virtual memory (already maxed) because I recently found out through the rgl_log that warband is only using 1gb of my 4gb of RAM, and I can't seem to fix this.

    I've visited multiple threads about compatibility issues and I've done every fix found in these. Steam is not running in compatibility mode, Warband is not running in compatibility mode. I've tried running Warband in Windows 7 compatibility mode, same results.

    I could probably revert back to DirectX 7 and turn all of my settings to the absolute minimum, but what I really need is to find a way to get rid of this stupid limit on the available RAM, which is obviously the root problem.
