    Well, you could just think of player-assisted sieges as exceptional tacticians who actually managed to take the settlement/fortress by storm, with the AI ones being average tactics/when no weak point in the defenses could be found to allow anything other than a long siege.

    Never had that bug, not on any mod, not in Native . . . I thought archers always shoot only when they had a clear line of sight.
