  1. There has to be a way to turn off the damn fog?

sometimes it does last too long, over a month straight  :???:
  2. There has to be a way to turn off the damn fog?

yes the fog can be interesting on occasion, but when it goes on for more than a few days straight it really starts to get on my nerves... especially since the AI is completely unaffected!
  3. There has to be a way to turn off the damn fog?

oh I see yeah so realistic... you know what doesnt suck in real life? In real life the other people on the battlefield can't magically see through the fog and shoot arrows at you or know your location on the battlefield at all times
  4. There has to be a way to turn off the damn fog?

I've searched for a solution to no avail.. this "feature" is really starting to ruin the game for me  :(

I was wondering if you could post this up with your modified numbers
  7. Compilation of 82 little tweaks to the text files to change your gameplay(links)

    Mage Lord,

First of all thank you so much for all your tweaks

I wanted to implement your fief tweak but when I look at the numbers in the text file and try to follow along with your post its all just over my head. I understand what you're trying to do but I'm afraid I'm going to break my game.

Do you think you could post your implemented tweak (the version you're using) so that we could just copy paste it into the scripts.txt? I just don't want to mess anything up =)
  8. Damage to Player

I've got it! We steal the rome: total war system

mary nobles, have kids - you die, you play as your next heir.. no heirs, game over
  9. SP Sci-Fi "Bitter Earth" (Mod is dead... p.160 )

man I'm not usually moved to words by incredibly ambitious sounding mods but this looks straight up amazing from the screenshots... cheers and good luck =)
  10. Tell About Your Religion

Let me just tell a quick story about judaism (pretty much the greatest religion ever, which i just discovered this weekend ).

    here's why:

This weekend (friday saturday and sunday) comprise the holiday of Purim, the gist of which was explained to me by a rabbi in a bar on thursday night (it gets better).

Apparently, as a jew I am commanded to be SO drunk over Purim that I literally can no longer tell the difference between good and evil.

There are specific historic religious reasons as to why of course - but thats the gist.

I understand if you run out and convert tomorrow =P.
  11. First Impressions of the Game

Sordid - as far as realism - the infantry combat is NOT realistic due to the (often discussed) issue of being able to strike (and be hit) THROUGH other characters.

Not to mention the infantry "AI" which basically consists of them running straight at you and swinging like a rock em' sock em' robot.
  12. Adding Music

lol ... i just turn off the in-game music and play my own on my system =P
  13. Great sword fighting games

Hi - I'm sorry if starting up this thread is breaking forum rules - its just that the other one got bogged down and locked because of silly insults and I never got to mention that people should check out Bushido Blade for the playstation as a great (and realistic!) example of swordplay in a...
  14. do you want realism?

Ok I'll give an example of an rpg where (despite some flaws) the overall experience really came together for me:

Vampire: The Masquerade (the first one.. unfortunately my PC is not up to specs to play Bloodlines)

The story was epic and intriguing, the atmosphere was right, mature themes were present while immaturity was not.

The combat was loads of fun - the various locals were unique and memorable. I can keep going on and on, and this is a game I played YEARS ago but it still stays with me to this day =)

Uhh...You know...those Puns...Are called jokes...they're funny to most people...and it is REALLY hard to get immersed into an 8-bit game...So no whacking at Kings Quest!

No harder than it takes to get immersed in a good book - if the story is good, and the gameplay is good, there should be no problem being immersed (if you have some semblence of creativity and imagination). Jokes and puns can be a boon if they are done in context - the majority of in-game jokes are not.

When I play an rpg, I do it for a mature and cohesive entertainment experience. I play an rpg because it has an excellent and compelling story, believable characters, intuitive game mechanics.

If I want quick entertainment I play a shooter. Mount and Blade is not a shooter - nor is it an rpg. What mount and blade does best is recreate a natural feeling combat environment - all this other stuff they are adding is clearly tacked on and it unmistakably feels that way. Since the realistically-bent combat module is the main focus of the game, that is what should be improved to its greatest potential.

The rest of the game just feels like an excuse to get to the next battle (which is always a lot of fun!)
