Russian firearms have always had difficulty importing and Obama's sanctions over Crimea were the final nail in that coffin. SVDs are quite rare and usually it's easier to get SVD derivatives or similar products like a Romanian PSL. As for domestic AK, or any Russian weapon production, it's a pipe dream. Various companies have tried and failed, Soviet engineering is generally understood to be crude and simple, and it is, but that doesn't mean any idiot can cobble their designs together. It requires an industrial base that most start-up companies don't have at their disposal.
Basically, producing any Soviet firearm in the US is like starting an entire new industry, so all the R&D and investment recovery would make the guns very expensive - which a lot of the market interested in the guns would sneer at. '1,500 dollars for commie garbage?!'
The best bet to get good quality, affordable Soviet-bloc firearms is that eventually a President lifts the executive order sanctions against China but... I'm not holding my breath.
