no what i dont understand is for a thing to have value you need a stable basis as you said, nations have their national resources, their market values, industries etc. uncentralized money depends on what, the gtx 1070s spending electricity on centralized goverment?
Not that I think that Bitcoin is the future or anything, I'm sure it will collapse (it's falling right now anyway) but national currencies are no more 'real'. The idea of the gold standard, or even national resources/budget backing in any form, is a fantasy today. You can't 'cash in' any currency in any meaningful way, you can't make any demands of any government using it, the value of currency is purely based upon its recognition. There are probably trillions of dollars in circulation more than the planet's value depending on how you might appraise it, because modern inflation and the concept of currency versus true necessities and commodities are so far removed from what they were centuries ago. At the moment, Bitcoin has some recognition as being viable and valuable, more so than many other nationally-backed currencies.

If I offered you 1 Bitcoin or 25 million Congolese Francs, which would you take?

Random Media v.4 (Comedy Optional, Interesting Optional)

What a glorious empire that would be, with all of those rare mineral deposits and technology development hubs with the ruggedness of Baja California and Alaska to balance it out.

When the Slovak National Uprising began in late August 1944, the newly formed brigade was committed to action. The conduct of the brigade played a large part in putting down the rebellion, and by 30 October the uprising was put down. With the outcome of the war no longer in doubt, large numbers of communist and socialist political prisoners began applying to join the Dirlewanger in the hope of defecting to the Soviets.[20] SS-Brigadeführer Fritz Schmedes, disgraced former commander of the 4th SS Polizei Division, was assigned to the Dirlewanger by Himmler as punishment for refusing to carry out orders. With his extensive combat experience, Schmedes became the unofficial advisor to Dirlewanger on front line combat.

In December, the brigade was sent to the front in Hungary. While several newly formed battalions made up of communist and socialist volunteers fell apart...

    Gun wankery

Russian firearms have always had difficulty importing and Obama's sanctions over Crimea were the final nail in that coffin. SVDs are quite rare and usually it's easier to get SVD derivatives or similar products like a Romanian PSL. As for domestic AK, or any Russian weapon production, it's a pipe dream. Various companies have tried and failed, Soviet engineering is generally understood to be crude and simple, and it is, but that doesn't mean any idiot can cobble their designs together. It requires an industrial base that most start-up companies don't have at their disposal.

Basically, producing any Soviet firearm in the US is like starting an entire new industry, so all the R&D and investment recovery would make the guns very expensive - which a lot of the market interested in the guns would sneer at. '1,500 dollars for commie garbage?!'

The best bet to get good quality, affordable Soviet-bloc firearms is that eventually a President lifts the executive order sanctions against China but... I'm not holding my breath.
