NC PUNDITS: MATCH PREVIEW

FRANCE  vs. RUSSIA

»After a dominating performance in their group where they defeated Spain and Turkey, the Russian team established itself as one of the most serious contenders for the title this year. The team looks solid, works really well together and has a bunch of players capable to carry individually as well. On the other hand, France had a tougher story in Group A, where they outclassed Sweden, but lost very closely to Finland. Even though the French are certainly capable of having a more than decent road this Nations Cup, people still wonder if the team isn't lacking some synergy as a few of their players lack  real experience in high-competitive matches.«

France

The real test.

France is a team made of very skilled yet emotional players. While it’s something which shows a strong will of bringing their nation to the top of the world, it also can turn to their disadvantage if they don’t manage to get the correct start. Brian and Thorr, certainly their two most dangerous players, no matter if they play cavalry of infantry, will certainly be the core of the French squad, and expected to perform at their best in this match. But against a team such as Russia, even those two won’t be able to carry the team on their own. This is where experienced players such as Tigerwhite or Maximou, their two main shooters, will need to show up as well, much like they've done before in the competition. Subzero, their captain and most skilled cavalry will bring the tactical side and cohesion the team seems to be sometimes lacking but if France wants to win, their faith is the hand of the rest of the team. Alyss, Swap, Tiberias and MouS, the youngsters, have a lot of pressure on their shoulders coming into this match and will be expected to perform from start to finish to show they deserve their spot in the team.
Russia & Ukraine & Bulgaria

The killing machine.

If Russia’s story in the Nations Cup has sometimes been scandalous, this year the team led by Arni is willing to prove that they can win the whole thing fair and straight. In order to do so, they have assembled a team made of the best Russian players as well as some really skilled Ukrainians. The team even allowed themselves a little Bulgarian addition in the person of Bruce, who certainly is going to have an important impact in this match as he is used to play a lot with many of the French players. As for their roster, one of the most dangerous aspects of Russia is the fact their two captains are also certainly their two most skilled players, as the current statistics prove it, both sitting on the top of the overall scoreboard. ReD WaR has been absolutely terrific so far as ranger, and Arni has proven himself to be a more than decent cavalry on top of the deadly infantry people know him as. Volshen, their secondary ranger has had an excellent competition so far and brings a lot of experience to the team as well, as does Sifon who, in a similar fashion to Arni, plays regularly as cavalry especially in important matches. Vernon, Bruce and BlackDevil have been a little more anecdotal in regards to their teammates performances but still really decent and they’re three players, who, would they show up tonight, could definitely turn the match in favour of the Russian side.

CONCLUSION

This match is definitely going to be an exciting one, and I do believe we could have a close result on both maps (Fort of Honour & Reveran Village), so each round will matter. Is Russia ready to take their revenge on France or will the Frenchmen step up their game a second time, in order to take the victory? The answer is in less than a hour !

»Most of the people who followed the previous edition of the NC will remember that France and Russia had already faced each other’s in Quarter Final last year, the match turning to the advantage of the Frenchmen while Russia was favorite on paper. Russia remains favorite coming into this match but they look even stronger than last year and if France wants to reiterate their exploit, they will need to show perfect cohesion as well as individual prowess from all their players. No matter which team they’re part of, everyone is certainly eager to prove themselves in what looks to be their biggest challenge in this NC so far. «
