I know they are defeatable but to what extent? At what tier of troops should I approach them?

with Tier 3-4 troops you need to outnumber them about 4 to one.

Ok thank you Chel, wonderful mod btw combat is seriously faster paced, I hated the horses at first (I'm usually an all infantry army) but now I have developed a few strategies to grind them .
