Online question

So me and my buddy are snowed in, and we're going to spend most of the day playing video games.

I suggested he try out Warband, but he says he won't buy it unless he tries and enjoys the multiplayer.

If I lend him my CD key, can we both play online at the same time, or will the servers not allow it?
