Its more convenient to thrust it into a knight's less protected areas,
such as the face (after lifting the visor or removal of the helmet),
armpits, groin, joints... etc. rather than try to pierce plate armor directly

Chinese single edged swords...

I dont think those blade designs come from China, they only exist since late Song dynasty era when the Mongol empire create Yuan dynasty not long after that. Dao is only a name for their single edged sword types and the original dao is a straight sword. And moreover, the blade designs, which i mentioned, exist in almost every countries that are conflicted to mongol empire in 14th century.

And i still believe a edge fluke combine with momentum and heft is still stronger than a normal thrust. Instead of attacking chest plate , we can also attack helm and weaker points like hands

Those weapons seem to chop well like axe but they look like heretic cult weapons and cant thrust fine like my favorite blade type.

This is from Hundt (1611) manual, posted by a Hungarian guy, who is reconstructing the 17th century sabre fencing.

The Chinese single edged swords matmohair posted also include non-Chinese types, like the wodau, whose name literally means Japanese Sword. It’s a Tachi or Katana.

Many of the types of swords originating in one culture can be found largely unchanged in a neighboring country.
Just as the Rus and Saxons used swords much like the Scandinavians, so too would the Chinese use swords much like the Japanese and Mongols.

interesting thing is Aserai swords also seem to have yalman which obiously doesnt make sense since there was no such thing in 11th century and it only existed in Ottoman Empire.
