Virus Related Computer Troubles

Kaspersky caused more problems for me than it fixed. It was sluggish, and scans took ages but never found anything.

wait.. you didnt even try booting in safemode yet?

Upon thinking about it that was a stupid move by me.

EDIT: Won't start in safe mode, comes up with a big list of .sys files and tells me STPD.sys cannot be loaded.

Did you try pressing esc when the loading message at the bottom appeared? If it's non-essential, you can skip loading.

Very sorry about the double post but the thread would drop off the front page without anyone noticing if I just edited.

I'm still dealing with said problems above. I have a Ubuntu cd that I want to install onto my hard drive. The hard drive has around 65GB free space out of 232GB. There is an option to install to the largest block of free space but none is large enough due to heavy fragmentation. Fragmenting inside windows is not possible due to obvious issues. Is there any way to defrag the hard drive from Ubuntu?
