Has anyone taken the source code and tried to make a 'Bear Force III' of sorts?
Yes. I believe it was Dice, and they are re naming it to Battlefront III. DanyEle won't even be in the credits!
Just facepalmed, and threw up a little bit at the same time. You have achieved something with that statement sir.

Hmm, how would I host a server for this? I have the server files, but I cannot find anything that says SampleBF2.text or anything close to that.

You shouldn't use the Native ones as they mess up the factions on random switches and assign random maps.
I'll give you the 501st code:

I honestly think the only way this mod can ever come back in full-force is if someone makes a singleplayer version out of it. It will draw interest to the multiplayer as well. Just an opinion though..

Or to be actual realists for a moment and ignoring pointless opinions: It would take a development team or people be willing to play. People willing to play in large scale is unlikely as the community died for a reason and development would require someone to get permission to use the mod's assets or the original team to return, both of which are rather unlikely.

Please don't bump threads with pointless statements, thank you.

While you have a valid point and I do agree with you. There is no purpose to diss somebody for wanting something. Granted what he wants it a bit farfetched and probably won't happen until bannerlord, the guy can dream. He wasn't really bumping the thread to be perfectly honest. He was actually giving an opinion to the topic.

Nobodies opinion is pointless if it has a clear point. You mean something else, not a pointless opinion, you mean an unrealistic goal, which are two different things.

His opinion had a point, whether you agreed with that point or not doesn't negate it being there or him having it. Trying to tell him his opinion is pointless is like telling something it doesn't exist when it does, nobody wins, everyone ends up no better off than when they started, and often fail to take on any message you actually meant. Indeed most flames and arguments on the internet start off in this manner.

You may think this obvious but it really isn't, it's a systemic problem throughout much of the world. As to it being rather unlikely to get the original teams assets, I have no idea, has anyone asked them?

I was trying to write something that wouldn't be considered "flame", then realised that I can't, as we're obviously too stuck judging people instead of what they say (seriously? It being his/her "opinion" had nothing to do with anything, it was just easier to refer to it as what s/he had called it). Oh and flames are usually started by people jumping to "defend" someone or taking things way too personally or pedantically wink wink nudge nudge.

This being Christmas Eve however, I'll just say: Merry Christmas, ignored this thread, and a happy New Year.

To be fair, this could have simply been avoided by you not posting, or ignoring the thread in the first place. Obviously you have nothing important to contribute to the topic and therefor shouldn't post.

Anyway, getting back to the original topic.

I think if any sequel to this mod will be made, it's better chance at existing would be during bannerlord when the Community picks back up again. Obviously an active development team that is willing to listen to players, and then a team of people who are star wars lore writers would be nice as well. To make sure everything incorporated sticks true to the actual Star Wars Universe. (So we can basically avoid Ewoks piloting a Tie fighter)

Looks freaking awesome, how will this influence the server performance though? Will it take a heavy toll on fps for instance or how should I see it? I would quess that it has some effect.
