Spears/polearms in the Late Middle Ages

Really?  The glave is my favorite weapon in M&B.  With it, I can annihilate armies of cavalry and infantry with equal ferocity, destroy masses of enemies with ease and feed my enemies their own entrails as they lay diying in pools off their own gore. 

It's a range game.  Play it or die.

but in M&B the glaive goes so slowly even when i jhave a high polearm efficiency

This isn't M&B that we are discussing, but the historical use of said glaive.

Heck, in real life it's still a range game. 
Stay the heck out of the range of the crunchies swinging the short sharp pointies and beat them about the head an shoulders with your longer sharp pointy.  Get inside the range of the crunchies with long pokey things and beat them about the head and shoulders with your shorter sharp pointey. 

See?  Just like M&B.
