The following historical Deluge event will be a semi-historical recreation of the 1686 Siege of Buda. Historically, the siege lasted for 2 months and was fought between the following combatants:
1. The forces of the Holy League, a combined army of nearly all European nations (Most states of the Holy Roman Empire, accompanied by Hungarian, Croat, Danish, Swedish, English, French, Spanish and Polish forces) numbering 65,000 to 100,000 men.
2. The forces of the Ottoman Empire, a roughly 10,000 local garrison force in Buda, later aided by a relief force of 40,000 to 50,000 soldiers.
SCHEDULED EVENT TIME: July 23rd (Friday) 2021 at 19:00 CEST - Central European Summer Time (BST+1). The event will last roughly 90 minutes.

The event will consist of the following two phases:
Phase I.: The Battle of Buda
On August 12th 1686, the main Ottoman relief army reached the fortress and descended upon the besiegers. Battle took place two days later between the two armies, with the Holy League emerging victorious.
Thus, we will be playing a total of three rounds in “battle” mode on a custom-made map. Each round will last 15 minutes, teams will remain in the same factions. Since the Ottomans are the relief force, they are the ones forced to attack the army of the Holy League, so the master of the field flags will favour the side of the besiegers. The aim of the first phase is to simply eliminate the enemy team.
Phase II.: The Siege of Buda
After weeks of a back-and-forth siege, the Holy League decided to launch its ultimate assault of the fortress on September 2nd 1686. Historically, the forces were able to fully take control of Buda by late afternoon.
Thus, we will be playing a total of two rounds in “siege” mode on a custom-made map. Each round will last 20 minutes, teams will remain in the same factions. The Ottoman forces are defending this time, though they are allowed to sally out of the fortress (even with a cavalry troop). The goal of the besiegers is to take every flag position within the fortress of Buda and the smaller fort in Pest, on the other side of the river Danube. If the attackers are unable to accomplish this within 20 minutes, the defenders will automatically win, and history will be rewritten. Note that the respawn time for defenders is 30 seconds, and for attackers it is 5 seconds (all standard). There will be no amount of maximum lives for defenders or attackers alike.

FACTIONS & SIGN-UPS
Due to the amount of nations that took part in the siege, it is impossible to recreate a completely historical faction set-up. The besiegers will thus be assigned into either the Holy Roman Empire or the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth (mainly replacing the similar style Hungarian army), while the defenders will be assigned into the Ottoman Empire and the Crimean Khanate (as there were Crimean soldiers in the Ottoman relief army).
In order to sign up, a regiment or clan leader needs to choose one or more of the following CONTINGENTS in the sign-up form (this is going to be the troop that they will take in the event). Please bear in mind that your team has to meet the given troop numbers when you sign up. In case you are signing up for more than one contingent, make sure that the two contingents are in the same team (either besiegers or defenders). The premise is pretty simple: The team who eliminates the other team wins the battle phase, HOWEVER, if the Ottomans manage to sneak a troop flag into the castle during the battle phase, the siege timer will be reduced by 1 minute per each flag that makes it inside the castle, up to a maximum of 5 minutes.
The attackers will all spawn at the main spawn, however the defenders may spawn at random spawn points scattered across the castle (most of them are nearby one of the 6 flags, with the only exception being the harbour flag).
The attackers must capture Flags 1 to 5 before capturing Flag 0, otherwise the round win will not count. Capturing these flags can be done in any order, however, and each contingent can feel free to move around the map as much as they please before assaulting the castle itself.
