Perisno: The New Beginning (v. II, Patch 3: 03.apr.2019)

Leonion, can you please say a few words about the new ability of Aroulo? The "I will somehow convert your units to fight for me" ?

I mean just mention a few things about it, so perhaps we can try to understand it more and figure ways to circumvent it. As far as I gather up until now:

1) It's probably the bombs that have this effect.
2) A good defense against it is using ranged units and not getting into melee (except well, when you siege fiefs).

I've been meaning to ask this for some time.

It's not conversion.

It's sort of "berserk mode".

Units that were directly hit by a leaf bomb (not AOE damage) that dealt at least 10 points of damage inhale the poisonous vapours and go crazy, starting to attack everyone around them, friend or foe.

Found a bug in TNB:

7BR970F.jpg

When: When I started to interact/attack Aroulo. Can't remember if after I attacked their base, during, or before. But definitely happened in the Aroulo area.
What: My renown dropped immensely (I am not sure if this is because of renown, but I noticed it because I had a party size of 530+ and right after, I was left with 330; and having only 2200 renown is not realistic after so many days).

I have no idea what happened, but reloading didn't help. So I'm stuck with this until the end of this game.

I also encountered this bug, only after the above happened (it never happened before on any of my playthroughs):

Interesting.
When that bad thing happened to your renown, did your age also change by any chance? Or did you become a relative of some lords/ladies?

As for the second bug - did it happen once or keeps happening?
Do you play using random Native scenes or new custom ones (that don't have chest)?

And why are you wearing inappropriate armor/helmet?

I loaded my save now, went to the characters screen to see who I am related to, and I can't see anything wrong with it. No family.

Keeps happening.

New custom ones. Eg. the option is not ticked to use the old random native scenes. I never had this error up until this renown thing happened.

And why are you wearing inappropriate armor/helmet?

It's just the body armor. The helmet is Drachen! Also, because the game allows me, thus I can  (had a lower quality fountain guard armor up until a few in-game days ago, but I couldn't rezist the body increase). I mean, I just can't resist to do this on my own (only use racial stuff). I need laws and regulations

Also, I had another error now, after loading my save:

It almost seems as if all these errors I never had before (and I played PTNB intensely, seriously) started popping up after that initial renown one. Almost as if something broke many of the scripts.

Sadly, I deleted all my saves and restarted with a new faction. It was getting annoying with all the bugs in that previous playthrough.

Sorry

First of all, Leonion, as befitting my age and maturity level, I would like to state the following opinion with regards to your mod: weeeee!
Second, how do I access the battle formations mentioned in the mod info? I would really like to have my infantry in shieldwall formation.
Third, which faction would you say is easiest? I've been off M&B for more than an year, and I kinda lost my skills.
Thank you for all your work and dedication.
Thanks you.

As for formations - sorry for disinformation, I forgot to remove that note.
Formations are only used by AI, they're unusable by player.

But don't 'stand closer', 'stand closer', ['hold fire'] simulate a pretty decent shield wall? It always sufficed for me...

As for factions - Falcons and Kuu-lan perhaps because of that insane horse archers AI and nearly 0 micromanagement required.

But overall I think most faction are more or less equal. Some like elves are stronger than average, but their soldiers are also very expensive, and money can be an issue in PNB.

Tolrania and Zann are weaker than average though, since they were made to be 'quanity' factions (cheap, good garrison material, but not very strong on the field of battle).

Will this formation system be usable by player in the future version ? I found it kind of useless as a "commender" without this system, so i just "Charrrge!" every battle. :iamamoron:
Thanks .

I've updated full versions on nexus and yandex.disk.
Consider it patch 2 for version II.
Only full version can be downloaded (no light upgrade-like hotfixes or patches) and it is not compatible with older saves.

The reasons why I'm doing this now is because I haven't really worked on the mod for quite some time and, well, I'd rather release the changes that were made than keep them lying on my PC for perhaps eternity until motivation happens to me again.

Changelog:
- xenoargh's female armors were replaced, 1 new heraldic armor was added
- new armors for Tolranian Champions and Holy Crusaders
- Aroulo: new noble troop (Beast Masters), helmet, shield, several "tribal" weapons, a bear (3dregenerator's wonderful creation).
- shaders for some giants' armors were fixed
- a few old axes were replaced
- lorien armor from TLD was removed for good
- new skill: Anatomist. Based on intelligence, only has 2 levels, only works for the player. Every level increases the chance to wound (rather than kill) enemies with sharp melee weapons by 25% and ranged weapons by 13%. So, taking into account that in PNB blunt weapon only have 50% chance to wound, with lvl2 Anatomist there is no difference between blunt, piercing and cutting melee weapons from the perspective of prisoner taking.
- now when you capture a fief and suggest that it is given to someone else it gets a small starting garrison
- lords that occupy a fief are now more accurately taken into account during the process of decision making (i.e. some 100-soldier enemy lord will no longer try to besiege a freshly captured outpost with 0 soldiers in the outpost's own garrison, but also a lord with 100 soldiers sitting inside this outpost)

UPD: I forgot to mention 2 more changes.
h-357.jpg
- using RMB you can now estimate party strength (= autocalc value)
- using RMB on any fiefs where you're allowed to build gives you a "manage construction" option, it opens the construction presentation and allows you to manage fiefs from the distance (it implies you just send a messenger with the construction order). Bear in mind that when you open the construction presentation this way (rather than by directly visiting a fief), it is advised to close it by using ESC rather than "return to menu" button. You'll see why. Other than that, there are no other differences.

UPD 2: Oh, and 1 more thing.
Tracking bonuses (from mounts, specialist soldiers and so on) will not be applied from now on, neither in PNB nor in Perisno. They were disabled for the sake of performance because their processing turned out to be extremely performance-heavy.

This seems like an awesome concept! Unfortunately, it crashes when I enter a battle. I had a battle with some Deserters which was like 15vs40. All the battles that were larger than that crashed. I had much larger battles in other mods without crashing. Should I decrease the battle size?

Do you have "load textures on demand" enabled?
It's pretty much obligatory, at least for my PC (I played the mod with BS ~250-300).

Also, what faction did you chose?
Because if it's giants, their armors are a bit too high-poly.

I don't have it on. The game loads fine, but when I enter a battle it crashes. I play for the Kingdom of Perisno. I have a Ryzen 1600, 1050ti and 8gb RAM. I think it should be able to handle loading textures beforehand.
This was 300vs50 on a battle size of 300. I managed to kill one guy before it crashed.

It's not your PC that can't handle it, it's the old engine.
Potato PCs guarantee performance issues, but modern PCs do not guarantee the opposite when it comes to Warband.
My PC isn't toaster either (i7-4790K, GTX 1060, 16 Gb), but turning off loading textures on demand leads to frequent crashes in fights.

Ok, I'll try it with that option. Thanks for a quick reply. Keep up the awesome work!

Edit: it works now that I turned on load textures on demand. Thanks!
