Due to an increasing number of regiments trying to attend each week, and limited server space, we will now only allow regiments to participate by invitation. This weekly event was created as a way for new and unregimented players to enjoy Mount and Musket in an organized setting and it will always be geared towards them, the new and public players.
When: Friday, February 3rd. Teams will be organized starting at 9:00pm EST
Where: MM_US_Event_MG
TeamSpeak is REQUIRED for all public participants! TeamSpeak info can be found here:
Public players should find the Public Regiment channel, where they will receive basic instructions and the server password.
MilitaryGamers.com will be hosting a line battle on Friday. The battle will be open to all public players and MM regiments by invitation only. Please join TeamSpeak ahead of the start in order to give new players a brief period to practice line drills and become familiar with organized musket tactics. The server will be passworded, and only public players in TeamSpeak will receive the password once the event has begun. Regiment leaders will receive the password via Steam. Regiments will be expected to fight in lines of 8-20 players each, adhering to commonly accepted line battle doctrine. We will be playing best of three rounds on three different large maps.
This upcoming line battle will mark the one year anniversary of the Friday Night Line Battle on MG server. It was one year ago that Wilson from MG approached Vincenzo and expressed an interest in creating a place for the growing North American playerbase to play MM on servers based here on this side of the Atlantic. As Vince had no interest in running the event himself (it's a little late where he lives) and Wilson had his hands full running his MG community, it fell on me to take up the responsibility of organizing and administrating the event. In time, the MG community had their own regiment, the 88th, led by a charming young gentleman named Deofuta, who has since become the head admin for MG's servers. Although the 88th has gone, the community built up around the MG server has grown and grown. At our first line battle, only 60 people showed up. The public players in attendance were drilled and led by the then leader of the 1stEPI, Rethmeier, who left an impression on them. Since then, every public player who has attended a Friday battle has been trained in the 1stEPI method of line drill by our fearless PubCaptain Gooner. If it weren't for the various different banners above their heads, it may be difficult to tell the Public Regiment from any other after just 20 minutes of training.
In observance of our one year anniversary, this week's line battle will be fought with no cannons or cav on the battlefield. As attendance did not allow for it when the event first began, we will be fighting with infantry only. Skirmishers were allowed at the first line battle, but for this week, I will only offer the position to regiments that were present at the first Friday line battle. The factions will be Prussia against France.
