Hæringar [EU Norðmenn bande, formerly 'the Haraz']

Ah instead of doing that we've changed the name to Hæringas - it fits far more than 'Haraz' as we've ditched much of our 'continental' image to go almost purely Norðmann. However I might jot down about how they did earn the name.

Of some possible interest, I just found out where the origin of our symbol, the Pictish Wolf, or duck-dog if you're that way inclined, came from. I knew the image was c7-c11 but I didn't know where it came from. It appears that it was a part of the Staffordshire Hoard;

The version we have is slightly different (it has a rear leg for a start) but on the whole it was nice to finally nail down it's origin.

I'm intrigued, who is this OE "Hoar" or ON "Hær" ? I guess we will find out.
Hæringar would be an ancient derivation from ON hárr, "hoar(y), grey; old". Chances are it was the nickname of whoever founded the clan rather than his actual name, but that's for the philologists to decide!
