This time around I regret not having the time (and quite frankly, nor the patience) to slog through the whole thread, and I am certain some people have left interesting questions. I'm also afraid this may be too late, but here's my go at it:
About the blog: this has been my favourite blog until now. It went in depth into the aserai faction (which I particularly like because sarranids). It felt so brilliant, so good to read, this was masterfully crafted and it was a jolly good read. It did not, however, hype me up for the game, the blog that did that to me was the Vlandia blog, not sure why. This is good, I only want to be hyped after a release date is announced. Now, more than ever, I am completely undecided about which faction to choose, they all seem so interesting, and the 'clan' aspect of them is really promising (really hoping we could somehow join them). I will rest it here because it was really awesome to read this blog, congrats to the team who wrote it and translated it. (Really hoping you need some portuguese translator, so I could apply for the job...)
Edit: Seriously? Sturgians are uninteresting just because they don't fit some stereotypical depiction of northmen? I'll politely disagree.
And about the Aserai sabres/shamshirs: it has been traditionally a cavalry weapon (much later, of course), plus in the gameworld, the Khuzaits are more close and could be more culturally influential to the Aserai---id est: we only saw them on cavalry, maybe the infantry uses straight swords like the sarranids. Still, I don't really mind, I like variety, either
curved. swords. or straight swords are nice virtual replacements for my genitalia and I'll be able to maim people with them. It's good enough for me.
Question(s) for Negus:
- Do you do colaboration work to write questlines, or background stories, or main quests, or you (and the other writers) write your pieces separately and then merge them into the game? (I am aware you all have to be on a similar standing and standard of writing because you can't write the same story for different events/characters, so you all know what each one has to write without invading the others' territories, what I am asking is if you write together with someone else on the same story, or if you prefer to write mostly by yourself - it's a writer's thing, I know)
- Did you take inspiration from some other fictional works to write specific sections of your writing? Did you feel it enriched your story this way? If you give any examples, it would spoil the game, but it would be nice if you could cite some of the works that did inspire you (if any). And are there any particular real world history event, situation or plot that inspired you for any of your writing stuffs? (like specific cultural stories or even "village stories" that you thought interesting to visit in the game)
- Personally, what kind of writing do you find most interesting to write: historical background, questline, dialogue, events, etc?
- And lastly: what will you do after the game is launched? Do you want to keep writing more stuff for possible DLCs, expansions, etc? Want to change to a different writing position (or just focus on design and less on writing)? Or do you want to take a break and just play the damn thing just like us all?
Thank you for your attention, hope any of these could be answered!
I seriously need to use my vacations to write my stuff...
