Creating animations for a video game might look similar than doing it for a film or TV show, but it’s actually quite different – and much more complex. An animated character in a video game is not linear: it has to answer to the players’ feedback, be it because you should be able to direct its movement (if it’s the protagonist) or because it responds to your decisions (if it’s an NPC). Thus, on top of the artistic work, there is a technical side of things to make them look and feel natural, transitioning seamlessly from one animation to the next. And in a game such as Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord, where combat is so important, animation plays a key role in its gameplay: it gives you the visual feedback that you need in order to fight effectively, letting you know (in a subtle way) what your opponent is about to do. This is why Olcay’s work is so important, and today he will share with us some details about what he is doing for Bannerlord.

[/parsehtml]Read more at: http://www.taleworlds.com/en/Games/Bannerlord/Blog/63

Today's blog is with the Level designer so... what exactly does a level designer do?

Like Blead said they design levels. My questions for example:

My question for Mr.Gökçen

Will there be dungeons and prisons in the game and will we be able to see them(both in single player and multiplayer) ?

Also how many battle areas and how many multiplayer maps does the game have ?

I asked these but the battle areas are randomly generated so the answer is infinite(I dont know what I was thinking ) so I take that question back.

EDIT: Dont know if it is too late but I also would like to know if we will be able to see the prisoners we placed to our castle's dungeon or the prisoners of any castle in general when we enter to a castle and visit the dungeon.

will there be secret locations like a well hidden "office" of certain "professionals" / some distant secret place of scheming pretenders and such???

He designs levels.
To expand on this.

They are the ones who create areas for the player to walk around on and interact with the world, not on the world map but the places where you can actually control your character.

A level designer needs to make a scene that is both aesthetically pleasing and function for a game. For example, creating a village on an incredibly steep mountain may look pretty but it is a horror to move around on and you can't turn it into a battle scene.

Lol WB must not have had a level designer at all if this was his/her job

Wow, the animations look beautiful. Some of the best I've ever seen in a video game!

BTW I believe this is my first post on this forum. Been playing the game since 2008 and I loved it back then. The old versions had its frustrations but this time it'll be epic. Can't wait to buy it & start neglecting my studies

Excuse me,But I wanna say something
I am an Arab man, I know alot about the history of our civilization..
In Aserai, we don't ride camels in battels , we only ride camels in travelling

Historically true.

My expectations were resigned to horses as the only mounts again - so I am extremely happy to meet Humphrey.
This blog showcases the engines ability to handle mounts with non-horse skeletons - a great step forward from Warband. Crucial for fantasy mods. This opens the gates for GOT dragons and war elephants. Every mod will need a good rigger & animator.

Historically, camels were crucial in the expansion of Islam - not for camel cavalry for camel mounted infantry.
The main drawback of the armies of Sassanid Persian Empire and the Eastern Roman Empire was their lack of mobility. Khalid ibn Walid decided to use the mobility of his own army to exploit the lack thereof in the Sassanid army and Byzantine army. Later the same strategy was adopted by all other Muslim generals throughout the period of military expansion. Though only part of the Rashidun army was actual cavalry, the entire army was camel mounted for movement.

I’d love to see the mobility of infantry boosted by camels in deserts in Bannerlord. With that mobility, Aserai armies could pick and choose who to fight and who to avoid.

But, in a game such as Bannerlord, I’ll ride a camel into battle for the fun of it.

Bannerlord is a video game, not real life. Some people want to ride a camel to battle for fun. Like NPC99 just said. Fun>realism.

Respect Your opinion of course ..
I said so as they were talking about The matter of history and realism?

you must be confusing blogs. This one is about animations, and it only mentions they worked to improve how the camel moves (it is not like a horse) to make it more realistic. The camel movements.

there is a entire blog about camels themselves and why/how they are used in battle.
