0.660 Cannot join servers bug quick fix

If you are experiencing this error, please use this executable for a quick fix:

http://download2.taleworlds.com/download/mb_warband_0660_quick_fix.rar

All you need to do is to extract the archive and copy the executable to your game directory (overwrite).

Did you find out what was causing it? As you said it wasnt reproducible. Is this just a clean .exe download or something?

Put the exe from the zip into the warband folder.
It's not a self-extracting exe.

Bump so that people wont miss this one as it seems to be quite vital, atleast to some players. Just last night before going to bed I saw 24 guys disconnect from the server, leaving 6 players on it.

I made the same mistake a patch ago with the single player exe.
That's why knew what your problem was.
I figured it out the hard way, after wildly downloading dlls and stuff.

Really now, a single page is not so terribly much to read.

Internet search brings up no servers on a desktop with a LAN connection, even before this version. All I get is "retrieving information from 1 server", then nothing. The quick fix does nothing, though this may in fact be a different bug. What's puzzling is that I get no problems on a laptop with a wireless connection, with the quick fix applied. If the problem is with my settings, I have no idea what to adjust. I tried turning off my firewall to no avail. Perhaps it's the antivirus?

EDIT: HAH! I was clicking Refresh and an Assertion failed error came up. I was able to Ignore out, and triggered it again a few times by doing the same thing.

Just this morning I was able to play on Warband. This afternoon I am getting that error. I cannot join any server.

Yes. I could connect and play every time for the first two days of .660, but every day since all servers I try just return "Error. Unable to connect to server."
