  1. I want to be a woman.

    This option should be added in.  The game is marketed to a Western European and NA base as a cash cow.  From a business prospective that's the values that side of the globe have so you should probably cater to your customers.  The fact that a 46 page forum thread is up on this subject pretty much says it.  Now will they play the game regardless, yes probably so.  But they won't have as good of an opinion of your product.

    Are most gamers male?  Yes.  Are they exclusively male, no?  Do gamers like doing things in an unorthodox manor and hence even male would play female characters?  Hell yes.  Business wise it's just a no brain decision. 

    Historically you also cannot make the point.  Any historical era in time had inclusions by both men and women in various forms.  For vast majorities of the time it's been male dominated but no matter the time there has always been that female oddity here or there.  You just have to look close enough in a historical context and you will find it.  To state anything was 100% exclusive one way or another in all of human existence is poppy-cock ignorance.  And besides no game is 'historical', that's a joke from the get-go.  It can be placed in a historical setting but they are never 'historical'.  Once the game starts history ends.  It's dependent on you, the player.  That's the point. 

    Also as an aside isn't Taleworlds a Turkish company, not a European one?  I've seen that misstatement in a lot of posts here.

    Also Treebeard is very correct.  It's much more a engine limitation.  The exe is just not handling things in a clean enough manor and it's causing issues.  Memory Management is key in coding, and Warband is the fail-o-copter at the moment.

    • Menu Start -> Run, type sysdm.cpl and press ENTER
    • a window should open, go to tab Advanced -> Startup and Recovery Settings -> Edit
    • at this point you're editing your boot.ini file. Don't mess things up.
      Look for the line with your operating system mentioned and add "/3GB /USERVA=2990" without quotes. Should look like this:
      [operating systems]
      multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /noexecute=optin /fastdetect /3GB /USERVA=2990
      just add only the "/3GB /USER...", don't erase or add anything else as it may corrupt your booting file
    • save changes and reboot
    Windows Vista / Windows 7
      • if you are running as an Administrator go to Menu Start -> Run, type cmd and press ENTER
      • if not go to Menu Start -> Programs -> Accessories, press RMB on Command Prompt and select Run as Administrator
    • in Command Prompt type "bcdedit /set IncreaseUserVA 2990" without quotes and press ENTER
    • reboot

    Btw thank you for that thread.  Update to my problem:  It fixed the issue.  A bit extreme, but changing the boot.ini file solved the problem.

    I'm having the same issue as Tomipapa.  However, I've got my logs and information for the game.  I think my issue is found in the rgl_log.txt file and i've posted it in the spoiler.  That should also contain any system information need.  If more is needed let me know.

    While I can run Warband MB full bore in native it appears that doing the same in POP renders the game inconvenient to put it lightly.  I can drop settings and change to DX7 instead of DX9, but that appears to be defeat the purpose of trouble shooting and instead offering a crutch to whatever the bug would be.  If any of you coders could point me in a system setting direction that can be changed maybe there is a work around.  It could be how Warband handled the massive overhaul that is POP3 just makes it unplayable at high graphics settings without top of the line equipment.

    I'm having a graphics issue with POP 3.0 and not with other mods.  The issue revolves around the water in rivers.  I get an electric rainbow effect going across the water.  Not sure what's causing it.

    Anyone else have this issue?

    One thing I will add with the consideration to Warband Port.  I have found horses are a lot less durable in Warband.  The result, unless you beef them back up in the mod, you will be de-horsed by the Jatu fairly quickly.  Of course that pretty much = death in short order.

    Another thing that I find an issue with Warband is the normal 'thrust' option of swords or other weapons.  It appears that it has a shorter range then a swing on horseback.  Per my field test results.  This is logically incorrect, and has to have something to do with the mechanic change in Warband but if it can be addressed at the mod level it may be helpful.  Lances are excluded from the statement as they only thrust for the most part. :wink:

  8. Morgh's M&B WB/WFAS Editor v1.50

    I've been having an error issue in Party Templates when trying to attach prisoners to existing templates.  I keep getting the message 'Unknown Line' at the end of party_templates.txt

    Namely I was adding peasant women as prisoners to common bandits for easy sword sister recruitment.  :mrgreen:

    If anyone has figured out how to get around this error please let me know.  If it's an unknown bug, well hey it's now reported.

    Is it possible to get Warband support for the Morale change for Leadership Skills and not just party size limits? 

    I'm guessing that is one of the things that shifted from the original MB.

    Regardless it is a great tool and I appreciate it.

    All flags (for example)  are set to this decimal value (red colored):  trp_swadian_militia Swadian_Militia Swadian_Militia 0 36700160 0 0 15 37 40
    But the red colored number doesn't say anything until converted to hex values.

    I now understand the system they use, and the only thing to do is the code for the saving-routine.

    Since I'm not one to offer an issue without a solution let me expand on the above with Bhulaban.

    Bhulaban is a snow village in a green zone.

    Dugan (near Poinsbruk) is a desert village in a snow zone.

    Suggestion of switching the two as a temporary solution.

    Minor issue or more consistency issue.  Definitely insignificant in scale.

    Bhulaban - Sarleon town near Mistmire Castle is a Snow Village map yet clearly in the Green zone.
  14. Compiled List of Suggestions for POP 3

    One thing I didn't see on the list which I think adding may be interesting.

    The ability to edit a lord's gear and level through his conversation window once he is on your side.

    Often times I see lords running around with a + because they do not level automatically.  Allow the player to do that and upgrade their equipment.  Some of the crap that the minor lords wear is pathetic.  I do understand the problem with players 'raiding' a lord's equipment if this is done.  I do not know how that would be overcome.

    In addition if it is not added already.

    Would it be possible to request permission from gutekfiutek to add his polished buildings mod?  It's definitely putting the much needed polish to what is already in Mount and Blade.

    I'm not sure if his mod can be applied directly to PoP as is without causing problems.  Even though I'm fairly certain that PoP uses the stock native buildings.

    The story of the Qualis gems is unique and well done short story.

    However, if we're going to go down that route.  Explain in a rational sense what the hell they have to do with founding knighthood orders? :wink:

    Ahh there's the rub.  They don't, they just serve a game function.  So I'm asking for expanded functionality with regard to knighthoods, even if it costs me a bloody arm and a leg.

    The runed weapons do nae concern me truthfully.  Also you technically have to get two gems to get a weapon.  It's the troops that are more important.  As the one snake cult lord in Conan said:  "What is steel without the hand that wields it?"

    Besides best weapon I think the game I think is actually a Runed Bastard Sword that shows up very very rarely in shops.

    Man.

    I obviously hit on a raw nerve with that gem bit.

    My only sticking point was not really at how difficult it was to get the gem.  I just wanted to put forward the idea to keep farming them or at least farm them with more consistency.  Why?  Because they are truly unique and important parts of the game, especially later game development.  What they have done with the current setup is different and interesting.  It's unfortunately too hit or miss for myself that it has a distinct possibility to leave you with a bad taste in your mouth because you're left OUT after all the hard work.

    I'm one of those people that think everything should be open to the player.  They just should have to work hard enough for it.  Right now with gems that isn't available.  It appears to be a set amount of chances and a luck of the draw situation.

    Somehow that point got missed and turned into a two page back and forth.  Also all the other suggestions got left by the wayside.

  18. Things you Want to See in Pendor Version Three!

    I would like to see a few more matching skins in the game with the brighter armor.

    If you look at a lot of the highly silvery plate mail the boots really don't match.  They need to be a shiny steel in color.  Also the reinforced gauntlets match that bright plate, but of course you're going to get 10 body armor not 12.

    Give that skin it's own item designation with rusty, normal, thick, reinforced, lordly etc., and put the older gray skin gauntlets with the current in game 'reinforced gauntlets' heading.

    Maybe just adding some full sets of armor to allow you to get you and your companions more on the same page with regard to looks.  That and just give me a good black helm to go with ebony plate. :razz:

    The polished plate boots really don't go well with hardly anything, maybe a reskin on those would work.

    To look at the color I'm talking about try the adventurer's helm and the valkryie stag plate.  You'll notice the bright steel color in that armor and both of those seem to go together.  It's the boots that are lacking.

    Next, more winged helm colors.  Give me one with black, blue, white, green etc feathers in the horns.  Right now they just have red. 

    All these suggestions are just about pimping your character.

    For gameplay:

    1.)  The ability to attack factions with positive standing and take a standing hit. 

    Right now if you get positive standing you can't attack a guy.  If you have two people with massive negative standing you can't side with either of them.

    1.5)  A major change in the game may be tossing in a three way competition if that's possible on a battlefield.  That would be a coding challenge and would require editing of the battlefields so not sure if it is worth it.

    2.)  Giving another route to establish knighthood orders etc without a Qualis gem or throwing in a very tedious but sure way of getting a Qualis gem.  I ask that because I've had the situation where in my game I've fought every army named on the map and have caught 0 guys.  It's random chance and if you lose out on the internal seed when your game is running you just get left with the free gem in Rane. 

    I'd appreciate an alternative.  I've also got all minor factions to obliterated and I've never had a re-spawn of the adventure companies.  As such I can't say that I will be able to get another gem.  It's an interesting concept and I don't mind it, but I'd ask that armies kept being spawned on a regular basis to give the player the possibility to acquire those gems.

    3.)  Bigger badder armies for the player without the morale penalty.  If I'm king of a nation I'd like to run around with 300 guys.  Eventually you can do that with enough renown, however the morale hit, and food hit is a huge problem.  You could just jack up morale via leadershp, but not sure that you would want to do that as a balancing measure.  Maybe attaching morale to honor or renown as well may assist.  Upkeep may be a factor, and I haven't yet computed my the ROI flowchart on the village improvements.  But making that ROI sooner may assist in upkeep.

    3.5)  The ability to buy food in bigger quantities that lasts longer for larger armies and doesn't take up as much space.

    4.)  Remove the Stat hit at 2 years.  (I did this using the 82 tweeks from mage lord anyway)

    5.) Quests, Quests, Quests:  I put this in another post about quests to be added.  I suggested quests that allow quick completion of buildings, and utilizing trade goods such as iron, wood, fur, etc for villages while building improvements.  Also throwing in more functionality such as a smith when a blacksmith is built or armory.  This could be added to a castle which allows improving weapons and armor.  Say a battered marleon's plate mail to a normal marleon's plate mail.  At less of a cost then buying it outright from the shop.  That would add an entire crafting aspect to the game and potentially make lordly items much cheaper.  You could, like the steward, also add the ability to upgrade the smith. :grin:

    6:  Add a stable boy in castles and towns for your horses.  Currently there are chests in towns and castles that hold items.  They do not hold horses, which makes sense.  Just add a stable boy outside near the horse stalls to hold the horses for you.  You could give them a similar inventory script such as the book keepers, since items sold to them don't vanish.

    Course If we could province the territories and start having situations where a noble brings in  his armed troops he's fair game and vice versa t hen that would be great.  That would be a lot of work though, and a bit too similar to Total War and Civilization 4

    I've seen it for far longer then just 2.04.

    This is not unique to any minor faction.  Major's work right, Minors no.  Think their relationship code may need to be rewritten.  Also need to allow the ability to attack them with positive relations.
