i married isolla and i got a minister. is there a difference founding own empire and marring a claimant

Yes. If you marry any ruler (claimant or not) then you're a co-ruler. They're still rulers and still make ruler-like decisions, but you can override some of them. If you don't decide on certain things they'll decide it for you. For example, who the marshal should be, or who gets a newly captured castle.

Other than that, not much.

Is it possible to:

1) Join the cause of a claimant
2) Marry them
3) Stop being a member of that faction
4) Conquer your wife/husband's faction?
