Yes that except it's missing the "power to the trade guild" and "laissoz fer" or something and I also asked which option like "decrease power of the crown over trade and industry" does what.

Heard of google ? Well if not i can tell you of laissez-faire basically means the government doesn't involve itself in peoples day to day live they just focus on running the country. However In economics, laissez-faire is an environment in which transactions between private parties are free from state intervention, including restrictive regulations, taxes and tariffs. More or less free trade. Know ingame i guess it would allow more caverns? Or less carvans but more tax?(depending how laissez-faire you are) Don't know sound logical to me though. Hope you understand

Actually mercantilism is not the opposite of laissez-faire.

Mercantilism is the theory of the 16th that was followed by most countries, to attract (spanish more often) gold in their country, and doing their best so that the gold/currency would not leave their kingdom. Mercantilism is a sort of protectionnism. It is an opposite to free trade.

The real opposite to laissez-faire is economic interventionism.

Look at the British economy in the 18th and 19th, it is a combination of laissez-faire (Adam Smith) and mercantilism (Navigation Act).

Cool haven't heard much of mercantilism before all i knew of it really was that the government took over foreign trade so in game if theses two are based on the caverns you have or trade they would work well together no?

Mercantilism/Free Trade slider (added 3.3.2+ June)
The June 2011 release of "Diplomacy 3.3.2+" included a new mercantilism kingdom policy.

Mercantilism increases the profit gained when a kingdom's merchants trade within the kingdom, and decrease the profit from international trade (both for the kingdom's own merchants, and for foreign merchants trading in that kingdom).  The caravan routing takes this into account, meaning that Mercantilistic policies will more frequently entice your merchants to trade between your own cities at the expense of discouraging traders from other kingdoms.

So if you have let's say 3-4 cities close to each other and you put mercantilism at maximum, then all caravan will trade between your cities.
This will rpobably tend to decrease caravan raiding by enemy party or bandits, if the player takes care of his territory. Does it influence the income?
How do caravans take in account dangerousness of some town areas?

I currently have a very centralized and very plutocratic government but the numbers quoted do not add up to what I receive. Instead of receiving a -6 hit, it is more like -14 every month.

Does free-subjects have a negative effect on lords relation perhaps? Or maybe the Brytenwalda team changed the effects when porting the Diplomacy mod?

The more caravans that get to your cities, the more tariffs you should get. So keeping the roads clear will increase income.
