Zombies vs. the military scenarios

Users who are viewing this thread

Yeah, I saw a couple posts about this, and wanted to start a thread. What do you think would happen in different scenarios?

First I think should be your classic George A. Romero type zombie. Can't move faster than a slow walk and infects other's through biting. I honestly think that even reserve units would have a field day with this. Say if even an entire town was overrun, it'd be a really straight forward exercise. The targets are slow moving, they aren't firing back, and they definitely aren't using explosive or anything. It'd be just clear the streets, then clear the buildings, might take a couple months, but that's hardly anything compared to some of the fighting in Iraq that US forces have seen.

Aye, I never quite understand how military gets overrun by zombies, unless they literally get overrun, meaning the zombies are "infected", as in they can run aswell.

When there's too many, and the military runs out of ammo? They start slicing them open with combat knives.. but get overrun..?

It depends how the infection started, if it just started by one guy in a city. I doubt the military won't be able to handle the situation.
However when it's a random decease that effect a few people, the military also camps with problems from within the camp/troops/ship/plane etc. and that's annoying.

I doubt they'd go for combat knives. Probably bayonets and entrenching tools first. But yeah, a single unit might run out of ammo, but I'm pretty sure the US military at least has the logistics to avoid that.  :P There's 300 million people in the US... we have way more rounds than that floating around.

What?

Machetes would be even more suitable. A one handed weapon leaves a hand for a riot shield and a good strike would easily hack dead, slow-moving flesh.

Yea, I see no way really how the military or hell even a civilian with a lot of ammo and weapons would be overrun by Zombies unless they were like the Left 4 Dead infected.

flame-throwers would be the most effective method for clearing up a zombie problem.

and going by the unedited video of the Waco siege, even the National Guard has tanks fitted with flame-throwers.

Only if the virus started airborne could I really see it happening otherwise it would be a massacre of the zombies. Zombies are slow and useless with easy headshots awaiting them. Infected ala 28 Days are just people with super rabies or something so you can kill them normally so I don't see an issue there. Dawn of the Dead remake zombies that run and require headshots can suck a ****.

What about Nuclear Bomb?
Last possible option.. ever, there might be some Miltia folks in that town, meaning they cant do that, also Radiaton..

Collateral damage, who gives a **** about the Militia.

Also, artillery. Saturate the **** out of everything until nothing moves, then saturate it again.

if collateral damage is not a problem, drop napalm on the area, then some WW2 style carpet bombing followed by more napalm.

Lure zombies to a coastal beach zone, shell it from sea, drop bombs etc.
