Land of the Dead: Road to Fiddler's Green .Still has lots of servers , many map makers ,it's cool.Playing on invasion maps(servers) .You stay with your mates in a house(depending on the map ,that was just an example) , outside are like 50 zombies (more) .You shoot them ,you run out of ammo.You run outside find something useful.It's an awesome game.Like i said people are still creating awesome maps.
It also has a nice singleplayer story.Invasions are fun(online only)

Yep.The new Hl2 zombie mod is very bad.The zombies are players....that's not cool.I also love the zombies being AI.Anyway there's a great mod called Zombie Master 
it's not dead ,it still has lots of servers , people .They are still working on the mod (i'm telling you this , because you may think that the mod is dead when you're going to see when the last patch was.Anyway) here it is :

-One player is the zombie master (RTS view,you can only spawn zombies , set traps , you cannot play as a zombie)Your objective is to stop the humans before they continue the objectives.
-About the zombies , totally new models , not hl2 models ,they also behave different than the hl2 zombies.

Zombie Panic is awesome, the zombies being players just add to it instead of having mindless AI running in circles, it's actually a challenge.

Heh I played that on a friend's laptop. Decent game, for one related to a movie (I think it was kind of a prologue to the newer Land of the Dead movie).
Someone get Zombie Panic and play it with me and Mic. It's freakin' hilarious with people you know, especially when you can all scream in terror over microphones when a horde of zombies is chasing your through a mansion.

I remember hearing about another game using the Source engine as its base. It was up to four players, co-op, and other players would take control of "boss zombies" with certain powers who would control all of the other zombies, set traps for the humans, and just generally raise hell for the humans. It sounded pretty interesting.
