[Summary]

For one hour of playing so far.

Out of all the Warband mods and Mount and Blade mods, this is professional yes, but the mechanics feel slow and cumbersome. This game felt slow paced and putting on fastest didn't really change the pace of the game not sure why . So far done a few quests, but unsure whether I should try and make money or continuing on the main quest (supposedly).

I hope that the slowness isn't what this mod all about, and the weird economy doesn't help, I don't want to spend 100 hours investing in an economy .

[MeleePlay]

I set everything to fast, but the fighting is slow, when I mean slow it feels slower than Warband. I am unsure if it is my skills at 80 that could be the reason why, I was struggling to kill something because I swung slower than my opponent who also swung slow, so it became a 2 minute fight while the AI and I countered and attacked each other.  75% I win on hard, 25% I lose . But yea, felt this is a tad bit slow, not sure if a mod can fix the slowness, could be better if they swung a little faster. So that I feel like playing multiplayer in a way lol. If I didn't have a mount I would be royally fudged and unable to kill anything, let alone looters.

[GunPlay]

I am unsure on the gunplay here. I felt the accuracy and reload times of my handmade gun or cannon or rifle or whatever is sort of correct, but its hard to know how I am shooting because I cant trace my shot, not only that I only had about 15 bullets to use with, I thought I'd have about 25 bullets rather. I guess its trying to emphasize that for sniping use bow and for range attack to rush into melee use guns? I wonder if I can use a cannon and blow people up too using engineering, if so I would be happy camper. Not sure about Explosives, first I think 20k to buy a bomb .

[Economy]

This is the worlds weirdest part of the game, the economy. Hiring help is cheap, and getting guys with good gear is simple, problem is when you want to buy a decent gun like they have yourself. It costs heaps and even fighting bandits, rebels and looters isn't enough. Funnily enough the rebels weren't using hand cannons cause they look like having similar gun to my mercenary marksmen and they usually hit me pretty accurately if I ain't moving fast enough on my mount.

I take it that I will need to take advantage of using the caravans, which mean I need to spend time investing in trade routes and sending them the best, judging from the map I know one route of two different factions are like next door so I guess that might be a good start, but this is going to take a long time I am guessing, of course I could be wrong here but I have to give it a go when I can.

I know this is similar to Warband, but in Warband I am able to get the gear by killing raiders and selling their loot for a decent profit so I can buy decent gear to get on the next stage, here there seems to be several layers of making money before I do that, and I have no idea how my mercenary sharpshooters or mercenary cavalry that have these decent weapons be on a ****ty wage of 20 thalers. Sounds like they gave sympathy to a poor guy like me lol.

[Companion]

I haven't gotten a single companion yet, but with the academy features it sounds like I can make them better than my main character, and funnily enough I cant go to the academy to get trained..... Why not? Also there is this armor smith, weapon smith and horse trader that I can also go through to probably stock up and customize mercenary troops, not sure if this would affect me and my companions also. Again money is a problem so I haven't tried it yet. NOTE: There are arms merchant, armor merchant and such, but these smiths are different and can only be found in towns I believe (and some fortresses if I was playing it right)

[Quests]

The main quests (i think) is strange, but most of the time I had to take time finding villages and or person that could take me from one end of the map to the other, and the Elder didn't really help much or gave me advice on where best to go and such. Of course i could cheat but I don't think that is the spirit of playing it for the first time, not only that I have no idea on the towns and how they all tie in with another, all I know there is a war going on and there are I believe 3 other factions waiting over 2 other factions that are battling it out or something. So yea the story blew right by me and I am still not aware whats going on, maybe M&B isn't suited to tell you whats going on properly.
