I've changed a few things in SOD with the troop and item editor, I gave the Zerikanians a troop overhaul, unfortunately there's not a lot of variation in armour and helmets, this will change once the new unique armoury is released with the litchina helmet.

My M&B crashes a lot, rgl error vertex buffer or something (need better vid card) so I can't test it with big battles so could you guys do this please?

I have a suspicion the dismounted dvor and berdishe axemen will be overpowered.

Thanks

Download link just unrar and copy the files (but not the read me) to your Sword of Damocles folder

EDIT: so did annyone try it out yet?

Here's what I changed basicly:
Gave them Woodsmen => Berdishe axemen
Gave them superior archers that can serve as infantry with the Dismounted Dvor
Gave them cavalry militia (light cavalry) => Armoured cavalry militia (name sais it) => Cuman horse archers, (not bad light horse archers) => cossacks (insane horse archers with archery skill and descent armour and a 2 handed cimitar)

And I gave them
Boayrs (Armoured fight with shield and axe) => Mounted Boayrs (same but horse and Jarid) => Dvor (basicly Boyars with Bows and an armoured horse and insane archery abillities

In the future Dvor, Berdishe axemen and Dismounted Dvor will receive the Litchina helmet

EDIT I have updated some things, I've added some helmets from the eagle and the radiant cross and a new armour. I'm still waiting for D'sparil to give me permission to release with those Items. Was tedious work took me 10 hours to add 3 items with the .brf editor

Annyway screenshots!

there's a bit more, you don't see the cavalry militia and armoured cavalry militia nor the boyars and mounted boyars.

i DID NOT CREATE ANY OF THIS! i MERELY USED THE EDITORS

I have permission from D'sparil to use any items from his mod,

I would love to help but I'm kinda busy right now... getting ready for my grad trip on monday. Also, I don't play the Zerikanians, but I'll give it a try when I'm done all my work.

Good luck with getting permission, love those troops !

I didnt try it out yet, because i do think that we need some textures and meshes for these items... I don't believe my mount and blade will snatch them out of thin air ^^

Yeah, I pm'd him waiting for reply but I guess his inbox probably gets spammed with all kinds of questions, maybe I should ask in a thread in his sub forum.

By the way, VonmistontI hope you don't mind me changing the zerikanians? I just really really really wanted a faction loosely based on Novgorod from MTWII.

Yeah their Dvors are ****ing annoying :P

It looks nice, but can we make the armour less shiny? Nothing more ugly than it looking too shiny compared to native armours.

Those masks are super cool.
My new "anty sitck" policy forbids me from stickying this but I will post a link to this modification in the description and faq, You could also edit WIKI to add this somewhere.

The armours aren't really shiny in my game do you have any shinyness mods?

I think the more realistic metal sounds does that for you but I'm not sure...

^Was that some kind of joke? Anyway, the bitmap mod helps for shine. You can find it at the mod list. Also, GE, HDR, and the DX7 mod help if you are using a slower computer.

Well i didn't create the masks, they are from the eagle and the radiant cross, but yeah they are awesome!

Took me 10 hours to figure out how to put them in sod with the brf editor

Glad you like it! I'm honoured by your post in this thread!

Definitely worth the detour of trying it
For the Zerrikanian troop line is to my taste too similar to the Khergit faction
Not very distinguishable neither stylistic compare to other custom SOD armor set by Siofna

This proposal surely will provide very different visual and game play
Nice work

How can we get this into to the main code base?

Are the resources from R&E open source?  We should contact them, get permission to use them in the main mod, and update the source code to actually use them.  Zerrikanians have always been "the last ones considered".

As you are a code hero, could you please update Villianese also? They are useless archers while they are meant to be ownage archers because their infantry sucks already. The powerdraw of their sharpshooters is 5, where vaegir marksmen already have 6..... (I think i mentioned this before, and i know i can change that myself, i already did actually, but it feels like cheating too much )

R&E?

I'm sorry I'm an idiot and am not sure what exactly you are asking

He means of course E&R (Eagle and Radiant). He is asking if it is open source or if you rather stole it without asking.

Word stole should not be used in MnB modding context as long as credits are given and after contact try is made.
MnB is open source game. Anyone who is modding open source game is obliged to release own work as open source as well. If someone keeps such material for himself it's just unethic, simply rude. Thus taking something without permission after putting required effort to contact with a modder and after giving him fair credits is fully legitimate in MnB modding.

I checked on TEaTRC forum and I have found:

I'll probably come off as a **** for this, but I'm sick of receiving tons of PMs about items all the time. From now on I'll adopt a similar policy to that of HYW mod: if the item was made by me, it's for TEaTRC only (the exceptions being if you have helped me in the past or if I really really like you  :P)
If the item was made by a collaborator, ask him/her. Do not pm me to ask him/her for you, or to tell you who made what, do a search in the two main threads.
Obviously those who got permission before this still have it.

Such popular and well established mod as Eagle probably won't need anything from SoD anyway but in the light of the above I officialy announce that not even a single word of code from SoD can be used by D'Sparil.

I would suggest pissing on this announcement and releasing the mod anyway since it's outrageous to even consider forbidding to use own mod's resources in OPEN SOURCE game! It's against all the rules.
I'll probably come off as a ****
Now I know what D in D'Sparil stands for.
Sic! I didn't even know that there are such people over there! And just check out this ****'s credits. he uses probably over 300 other people's items and has the guts to keep own items for himself!

EDIT: if you vote that a unit is overpowered, could you please motivate your choise and post why they are overpowered?

EDIT2, They are pretty powerfull i Notice, especially those dismounted Dvor 110 of them in combination with the morale mod is easy victory in open field battles, 3 volleys of arrows and the ennemy army scatters and starts to flee in Chaos, at that point you can massacre the routing forces with your cavalry

So I think the Zerikanians are as overwpowered as the Antarians, alltough I haven't tested without the morale script, that might change things as even tough the Dismounted Dvor are good archers and descent and agile heavy infantry their axes have short range so that should ballance things a bit, and the Berdishe axemen are killers they don't have shields so a smart AI commander should be able to make use of that with his arrows.

Then again, I've conquered 60% of the Vaegir lands without much difficulty but I do play in easy mode

Still... I think they really resemble the M2TW Novgorod factions units in terms of fighting abillity, nothing could withstand my Novgorod armies, in that game and my dismounted Dvor usually killed 75% of the ennemy army before it reached my battle lines

Can you post the stats and a unit tree?  I’ll try to download the mod but I’d rather look at stats.

I really love the way Khergits and Zerrikanians play.
Have you checked out the Rise of Khergits mod?

Check out the link, it will go to some screen shots.  They have helms, masks, and horses that will blow you away.  It would be so sweet to include some of their helms and masks into the Zerrikanian troop line along with the masks from Radiant Cross to create a civilization with a theme (masked like Villianian are hooded).
Rise of Khergits is a great mod but it does not match with the play style of SOD.  Basically, everyone is a super hero and it is very fast paced action.  All of the items would need to be run through the item editor.  Their steepe dragons (all red) would make an excellent elite noble unit!  Of course the names would need to be redone as well.
This is a very easy thing to do.  I am no modder but I have done this type of work before.  All that would be needed is to change the price / armor rating and your set.  All the graphics are done and it really is top notch modeling.

This makes me want to create a Zerrikanian Void worshipper in V5 executing every lord I get my hands on….
