They released 1.130 and a day later they release 1.131?

They are both 584 MB files!!  I have crazy broadband so it's no biggie for me, but talk about sloppy!

If this was my company heads would roll.  This is disgraceful, you guys need to get your **** together.  I love M&B, but you guys really have to re-evaluate these updates.

I'm going to go back to waiting a few weeks before I install an update.  You poor bastards with Steam are going to have to hope that this garbage doesn't happen anymore.

Why am I a poor bastard for having it on Steam?  It updated with no problems on my side.

Yeah steams awesome.

Dont understand why you hate it so hassle free.

After work turn on pc oh look Warbands auto updated. Rather than without steam opening up wtf the servers are a different version gotta find the patch **** were is it downloaded virus instead crap.

Steam is so hassle free and cheaper too. $10

There's 90MB patch. It only took me about 8 mins to dl the full installer anyway, about the same amount of time to read all about it and decide whether it's worth downloading.

I will only DL the new version if I see the changes/fixes are worth the time spend on porting my mod (again) or if there's engine update to make the game run better.

I guess the developers have it easy.  What seems to me pathetic is accepted as standard fare and worry free by the public at large. I guess I'm old school. :?:

What exactly seems to be a problem here?

1. That there's a new patch? I love them.
2. That you're unable to notice there's patch download and full download? That's your problem, not anyone else's fault.

Thread lock please.

His complaint is that Taleworlds released a patch that was (presumably) so low quality that it had to be re-patched the very next day. If that's what happened (I haven't been playing much so I missed the intermediate patch) then he has a pretty good point. These micro-patch-on-a-faulty-patch problems are what is keeping mods from being ported to WB.

So there were some bugs with a patch, and they were fixed by a mini-patch the next day; why is this something worth making a whine thread about? By the way, the only reason the second download was also 580mb is because you downloaded the full installer twice, rather than just the patch. Would you rather they not release a full installer with each version, and force people to download an out of date version plus the newest patch?

The kick change is worth complaining about; a next-day minipatch that fixes a bug preventing people from typing question marks in multiplayer, isn't.

- As others have noted, the patch is 90MB. You're looking at the full installer.

- There's nothing that says that you have to download an update. In fact, the lesson to be learnt from this is perhaps to wait a day or three before downloading, to ensure there are no major issues with the patch.

Shall I point out all the threads that complained when Taleworlds said they would stop updating the original M&B?

Everything released after the debut is a bonus, they have no obligation to do any of this.

Actually, I agree with the OP. While it may be somewhat more forgivable with a (I'm assuming?) small team like Taleworlds, the sort of attitude you guys are displaying is the reason we get 300MB patches the day of game release. Publishers know they can force games out before they're done and just patch them, and the player base will bend over and take it and say, "Please sir, can I have some more?"

What, when they released games just as buggy but refused to patch them? Oh yes, they were good old times alright. I still shudder at the thought of having to rejig an EMM386 invocation.

There are things that are unbalanced and buggy in the earlier patches.  Patches should fix that stuff.  The free stuff is a bonus, but it's a package deal or nothing.

Truth be told, I think I'd be happier just playing 1.113.  I should have just skipped all the other patches.  This whole game is fun, but it seems like a constantly running beta than a finished game.

I'm just trying to pass on to the developers that I don't appreciate having patches every couple weeks.  Take a little more time and make more polished and tested patches.

I assume that was a 386 processor?  What game are you talking about?  Back in those days the internet was still new.(early 1990's)  There wasn't much of an option to release a patch for the public.

I think there's no doubt the game came out a bit early and that's why all the patches, yet I'm glad they're still coming honestly.

um...  installing a mod on steam is exactly the same except for the location of the folder...

on topic:  this thread proves people will complain about ANYTHING.
