Your opinion on the best army

What do you think is the best army, or the even the one that you use.
Personally The first time I met up with some dark hunters I was amazed at how bad they owned me. From then on I've used only swadian knights/Swadian man at arms in my armies, ( Would use Vaegir knights but 1) Swadians troops seem tougher and 2) no way to replenish troops in swadian lands) and I have only lost 1 or 2 battles since.
But what would you say is the best army?

Vaegir marksmen or swadian marksmen, your choice, hired blades are tough, I also use vaegir knights as I am a vaegir but if your swadian then use swadian knights (again, your choice). and I've been experimenting with pikemen/footsoldies.
So= hiredblades, marksmen, knights (lancers), infantry (guards or pikemen, not sure).

SWADIANS > ALL. End of story. I don't really know one advantage Vaegirs have over Swadians, except archers are better than crossbowmen (in my opinion), but the AI seems to never have archers in their party, so they get owned.
Oh and if you're going for unit type, I like infantry a lot, just keep them together and disrupt the hell out of the cavalry charge by charging into it yourself. I'm also trying to mod the game to have pikemen units myself, and I've already made at least 8 new items (including a shiney rondel, but the ownage throwing dagger model goes on the hand backwards... darnit.), but there's some crap to be fixed. I'd LIKE to have archers, too, but they always just stay as far as they freaking can away from the battle, so I think it's a waste, but I do make my heroes archers.

Swadien knights, Vaegir knights, it doesn't matter, just mass them, thats the best army. and 15+ knights takes down any other army with few or none casulites. the answer to dark hunters is to put your extras (the guys who hadn't upgraded to man-at-arms or knights yet) in the top of the quene so they go into battle first and soften the enemy up (and giving you time to kill as much hunters as possible before your valuble knights join the frey). additionally, for some reason, dark hunters (and dark knights) tend for some reason to knock unconcious infantry while killing knights. I guees it is because they tend to run over infantry with their horses while when fighting knights they usually end up dueling it out on foot. I always go for unhorsed dark knights because of the simple reason that they are much more dangerous then the horsed ones.

Half swadian knights/ half swadian sharpshooters is probably the most flexible army you can get. Either select your knights and knight rush or select archers and hold position.

Knights make everything to easy, yes they pwn but what is the fun of that? After pwning a group of 15 dark knights I disbanded 2/3 of my knight force and started training marksmen...Its been funner ever since.

Don't train swadian sergeants, they have full plate armour and NO athletics so they move slower than a one-legged tortoise with arthritis.
Lots of archers are useless as they always stand in a tight group so only two or three can fire at once.

Wood, I disagree. The seargeants' speed is irrelevant since they can (And, in my opinion, should) be used defensively. As for archers, that's occasionally te case, but often they adopt a loose formation and fire clean volleys, totally decimating incoming enemies. The only thing that can beat them is a heavy cavalry force.

Well, mass cavalry is without a doubt the most effective force you can have...but as someone already stated, it makes the game too easy and isn't as fun after a while. But archers really do suck no matter how you look at it. 9/10 of the time they will sit behind an obstruction unable to fire, and no matter what you do they will never move. I really don't understand how some of you say you "lead them up to a hilltop" because they rarely move for me. And even on that rare occasion that they do listen, they block each other's line of fire, so out of a group of 15 archers, only about 3-5 are actually firing. Sergeants are pretty good units, but are a little slow, so when i want a powerful unmounted army, i usually just go mass knight and order them to dismount at the beginning. Not only are they a little faster on foot, but they're ALOT faster on the world map.

Sword Sisters rule. 8) They have good mounts, are tough, are excellent crossbow snipers and handy with a sword to boot.

I'm sure Dark Knights rule even more, but I've never been able to incorporate more than one into my army at a time so far.

Use roughly 1/2 heavy knights and 1/2 archers. I prefer the Swadian variety.

Raiding Vaegir prisoner trains yields Swadian m@as and xbows. These train up to knights and sharpshooters easily.

Use 1 to hold position at your current location. 5 is dismount. Against dark knights, I always gallop to the nearest hill and there hit 1 and then tell my knights to dismount when they get there.

The horses make terrific blocks to slow down the enemy cav and they will get mobbed by my dismounted knights or shot at point blank by my missile troops.

I will go gallop in the plains below to distract the enemy and keep them under the deadly rain of missiles while using a lance, 2Her or a bow to weaken or kill the enemy. When my horse is low on health, I'll retreat to the hill and fight on foot or borrow one of my knight's horse.

Vaegir Horse Archers make me cry in orgasmic happiness.

But if it isn't horse archers, then I guess the majority of marksmen and a pocket-force of knights.

Look up it up in any internet slang dictionary. Also, purepwnage.com is hilarious.

Now for Mag 7, I absolutely love the combination of Swadian lancers and Vaegir HAs. Both hard hitting melee and missiles. Lancers can shoot if dismounted also.
