Well i have registered to forum recently but i have been playing this game since since .751 . i till now havent forgotten my first siege victory in the latest version.the castle was pretty easy to take with the name being probably Radoghir castle.it was a vaegir one. i used battle sizer 350 and commanded a pure infantry force of 80 huscarls, 30 veteran warriors and 40 marksmen of vaegir.any reply by anyone on their first castle victory is welcomed and the army used.
sorry for the language maybe its not my mother tongue

Me, with 40 Swadian troops - a few knights, a few more men-at-arms, mostly footmen - trying to take Haringoth Castle, which was held by about 70 Nords.

I got knocked unconscious and the rest of my men slaughtered as they tried to pull back. Not the most auspicious start. :P

My first seige was Vindcourd castle, with my army of 45 and two allies of 50 men each. Ended up taking it relatively easily, despite my foolhardy charge into the enemy spawn point...But since then I've been hooked on attacking castles. My seige archery has greatly improved also :D

o-O

there where no huscarls in v.751..
no khergits, nords or rhodocks.

there where only 2 castles which were occupied by black knights. it had a really funny glitch. if you rested in the castle then teleported out of the castle and immidiatly came in a fight. then you suddenly where placed in a siege in the same castle based on how the battle started.
example: rest in castle - teleport out to a group of riverpirates - attack river pirates. - suddenly you where holding a siege against the river pirates whit them deffending the place.

Myself, my first siege was in .894. Back then I used copious amounts of Hired Blades. In .903, Nord Champions. In .960, Nord Huscarls. In 1.003, Rhodok Sergeants.

18 Huscarls, 20-30 Nord Veteran Archer, 30-35 Rhodok Seargents, a few Hired Blades, Jelbegi Castle (under swadian control)

.903, I besieged one of the vaegir castle's, but have no idea which one lol!

My army was diverse, mostly Swadian/Hired Blades, but it was my Nordic troops that probably won it for me!

God....im actually starting to miss hired blades w/ horses.

The first castle I sieged was probaly Chalbek, and that was with 5 farmers. Of course, I didn't realise how hard it was then :P

i loled at u...

mine was in a mod..lol

Playing as the french i was dearly out numbered while my CEO stood back he got hit in the face with a musket so sad...

well it was 145 Brits vs 100 frenchies...

Frenchies prevailed...*cough* i think i hit control + h* Cough*

Vaegir castle near the Nord Border, with a mixture of Hired Blades, Swadian troops and a couple nord vets that I hired.

I succeeded in my first castle siege ( with considerable losses ) and then not 4 days later, about 1000 Rhodoks stealthily cross the entire breadth of Swadian/Nord land to siege my castle. I was a bit flattered.

My troops ended up dead to the last man. We took about 300 of the bastards with us though... the effectiveness of my now huscarls was not lost on me during the combat. I make a point to keep good relations with the Nords when I can. Converting a few of their axe swinging psychos to my cause for castle siege/defense never hurts.

Some of these sieges should be made into a movie!

like... a live action movie!

Anyone know where i can find a castle in texas? ohh and about 300 men???

Can't remember.

I do remember that my first fief was something beginning with the letter "E", and that it was on a mountainside on the borders of the Rhodoks and Swadians.

Used a Swadian force of about 100 troops, made up of Knights, Men at Arms, Footmen, Militia and Recruits, against a force of Nords of about the same size, made up of plenty of heavy infantry units and a few archers. The siege was lost, along with most of my troops.

I later attempted to retake the castle, to learn the following:

Swadian Cavalry, while they own on the open field, are mediocre at best when it comes to sieges.
Infantry are heavily armored and do a fairly good job of soaking up the enemy's arrows.
Crossbowmen, while useless in the field (compared to Knights) are absolutely vital in sieges.

A good tactic against most factions is to line your infantry up outside the besieged castle, and have your missile units lined up behind them. That way, your heavy infantry can soak up any ranged fire from the defender, while allowing your missile units an oppurtunity to get some clear fire at the enemy. Once you have weakened the enemy enough with your ranged fire, you can charge home with your infantry.

Yeah, mine was Ryibelt too.  I had 54 swadians, I think, and the castle only had like 38 rhodoks.  Rhodoks are crappy in a siege, in my experience.  Afterward, when I requested the castle from the king, he refused, but five minutes later he gave me Estroq castle and the village nearby, so it all worked out.  I had just looted Ryibelt village anyway, so I couldn't recruit from them, so I guess it was for the better.

My first castle was Tilbault Castle of the Rhodoks. I took it with about 12 swadia Knights, 30 something swadian footmen and a couple Swadian Infantry.

This was back in .893. I believe I took Grunwalder Castle shortly afterwards aswell.

I'm not sure if I remember right but I think I got a big army of other Vaegir lords and band of Vaegir Marksmen behind me... Poor Nords got slaughtered. :P

Haringoth Castle for me. It had just been taken by Rhodoks but they left around 40 men to garrison it so I took it with a small party of mercenaries.
