Your favorite companions

[Rent a Knight]

Ok I was gonna make a poll but some people may like the older companions better.  And I don't know how.

So there's some cool new companions to toy around with and I haven't seen 'em all yet.  So who do you guys like/dislike the most and why??

I personally like Diev because he's a badass foot archer.  I also like Sir Roland who is kind of a putz but he's way too useful.  He's a killing machine and he can be your field medic.  Very handy indeed.  Plus my virtual GF Sara the Fox.  Cuz she's hot. 

So let's hear it.

Kevarra, because every girl needs a miniature "manopener" in her handbag! But she just radiates something, independance or such. I'm less of a fan of vengeance but somehow she doesn't seem like a bad girl, just a hurt one. A great underdog character trying to ease her own pains.

I also liked Sara the Fox (not because we share the same name!) for her antics and ever playful demeanor but unfortunately had to see her leave as too many of my companions went downhill when the courtesan joined the party (no pun intended).

Kevarra for sure, funny story and I captured a great piece of armor from the Snake Cult that had a high strength requirement, with one level up it fit Kevarra nicely. Has anyone found Adonja of the Rock Tops yet? I'm at day 150 or so and check every tavern but haven't seen her anywhere.

Got Adonja, aint really a fan tho... She is okay.

Juliet seems to work out well for my guys, she usually gets a load of kills. Plus she looks pretty cool, Lady Valks armour and some weird bell-shaped helmet make her look a little like a robot. 

The SS guy (can't remember his complete name, I'm pretty sure he isn't a nazi...) only because when he falls off his horse in the middle of a group of infantry - big armour + P  great sword = † (Only P great swd atm because I have exactly 0% luck finding any Qualis for the stupid drunk man and the only one I could get is bugged for me.)

Janus just cause he is pretty evil and should inspire fear in my enemies... It's not the killing he does but rather, what he does after...  (Plus he hates Cathan and I always hated that silly beardy man too...)

Then there's Gydia the Red, Julie, Donovan....

I gave them all Jarids, Crossbows, or regular bows and usually they kill as much as the Noldors/Silvermists during sieges.

I also got Kevarras manopener, stripped her nude, and disbanded her.  The manopener went to Gydia the...."surgeon"

Now I laugh every time I see Kevarra nude in the tavern, it's as though she turned into some stripper.

and my odd man out with only one enemy and one friend is kavarra as sara wont work.

I love this team and have no issues what so ever keeping them happy.  (just kaverra and rayne have issues but both have friends)

out of all i have a brotherly affection to Ansen, I try to find him first and grow up together.    out of pure bad assery.. sig, tim and roland do very well.  diev i like alot but to difficult to put ona horse.  my knights of nine so to speak as they are the only cav i run, the rest are ground and I rp diev as my ground capt.  lol

I scampered from town to town, dropping to 1/4 damage for tournaments  and relaoding more than I really care to admit, until I completed the whole set.  I'm a glutton for punishment, I guess, but I really want to see all of their interactions.  And it's nice to be able to wander out with a party of 21 and be able to take on reasonable bands without fear of losing a hard earned high end trooper.

Siggy for general bad-assery.  (And spotting 5)

Ansen and Leslie for adaptability. 

Kaverra to keep the men in line.

Roland because he's both tank and backup healer.

The "Sirs" because they squish things.


Hate Simon.  Whiny git. 

Gydia's out, cause all the people who've been around the block a few times think she's a poisoner.  I tend to listen.

Adonja is meh.  In fact, most of the rest are meh.  I keep Julia and Horus around because they don't argue much with the guys I like.

In my game they ended up so unhappy with each other that i had to let go of Kaverra. Sad story, will miss her.
I just figured that Rayne would be more valuble in the killingzone.

rayne and kaverra no like each other.

but.

rayne likes ansen, and kaverra likes roland, so long as you have ansen and roland in you party rayne and kaverra will fight to get along.  or at least I've had no issue with them thus far.  they moan at each other but the moral doesnt get in the danger zone.  and thats with the group i listed above.

its tricky because now each companion has TWO people they dislike instead of one.  of course this may be my luck but as long as they have at least an equal friend to enemy ratio.. you can juggle the mood.

So Roland,Rayne, and Timothy can be in the same party?  I haven't made enough to find out yet.
I'm looking for Roland atm. so I can let Gydia go and I take up the healing slack usually with Leslie who I love cuz of that goofy smile she always has on her face.

The following is a mix of useful and some companions I like. This build works well, no complaints from your companions, you have a good Medic (Gydia), a good trainer (Donovan), Spotting, Tracking and useful all round fighters from the start. For example, Gydia starts out with 5 Surgery, Donovan with 5 Trainer. Diev and Raveneye are foot archers which is my favorite style of playing, even though I'm following a different route now, being an horse archer. Diev in particular is a very good foot archer from the start. He goes really well with my other Ravenstern archers, wardens and rangers, due to his blue outfit. He's captain of the archers. Janus is a throwing specialist. Donovan besides being a trainer is a good all rounder. Kassim, over time, can be turned into a good horse archer, and Sarah is ok.

I added Sarah just for fun since I remembered someone in the forum mentioning her. She's average, I may or may not replace her in the future with another companion.

A couple of other notes. Sisgmund Sinclair is a good fighter, I had it on the team and he quarrels with Gydia The Red, my medic. He had to go. Sisgmund has 28 Strength from the start. Could be useful to level him 2 levels and get him to 30 Strength to have him wear Demonic armour, if you find it/loot it. Again, he clashes with Gydia (had to go). Kaverra was also on my party, she clashes with Kassim. I have an horse archer character whose background/father is D'Shar related, Kassim is like my brother in arms. Kaverra had to go. Ansen was in my party. Clashes with Donovan (good trainer). Ansen had to go.

I'm saving the companion knights, Sir Rayne, Sir Timothy and Sir Roland for another PoP game where I start a knight character build.

Basically good stats, and can you develop Leslie and Ansen into your medic´s/enigneers mid- to late game. (when it REALLY matters)

Well, one could go and employ Kaverra too but I don´t see any benefit having her in my group too. Gydia the Red and her leeches frighten either Sigismund or Roland and Raveneys is a sod. The other´s are just bandits and Mystmountain Bastards.

Though having Simon and his rant´s is funny. And the qarrel all around him. I reckon I´ll have to run an alternative save again and fetch all 20 compansion for the sake of their interaction. That´s 40 complainment speeches to cover all the time to do a spice run.
