Your Favorite Character Backgrounds

What's your favorite (or one of your favorite) backgrounds for starting a new character? And why do you like it?

Be it for purely the stat point or choosing a story you like to roleplay, what do you find yourself often leaning towards? What path holds the most gravitas for you?

Probably my personal fave:

My father was a hunter.
I grew up as a street urchin.
I became a poacher.
I left my home due to the loss of a loved on.

I like to roleplay my characters, so this gives me a lot of imaginative material to work with. The star of my upcoming AAR will probably start out with a background along these lines. Plus, the starting skills aren't half bad. You get some points in Riding, Atheletics, Tracking, and Spotting, which makes thing much easier in the beginning (to me at least). Also, I like starting as a commoner, it helps keep things in perspective, no?

while hunting trough the forest i see nobleman hunting party's and i want what they have
i left for wealth and power

1, Doesn't matter, Merchant or Warrior
2, I grew up as a street urchin.
3, I became a goods-paddler(nice for having starting money^^)
4, Forced out of home

Though I decide the background upon the starting skills, it actually doesn't really matter what you chose. It just helps to avoid useless points in some skills like tracking or powerthrow. Okay, I do not want to scare people who like javelins or like that, but I think powerthrow is one of the least important skills for MOST characterbuilds

I like the ones that give you STR/AGI skills and weapon proficiency in archery and 1H or 2H weapons. I never take spotting, pathfinding and other skills my companions will provide at a later time. I usually spent the first few weeks of the game hunting down my companions anyway.

I begged to stay alive. I had to fight the other beggers for bread, Why do they treat the relatives of their soldiers like this?
i became a craftsman apprentice
The man gave me a home he gave me a goal in life, One that nobody would grant me.
i left for personal revenge
The merchant was killed by a cutthroat, They never caught him they didn't even try nor care. This much unjustice, The death of my father who did so much for his lord and his country, The death of the merchant who gave a orphan a new chance. I shall take my revenge upon the world to restore its Justice.
