Horses?! Ugh! I always play Mettenheim style.

I admit that I tweaked few times it, so I could use polehammer(and halberds) while mounted(without shield). Like in some older PoP versions(Ravenstern horsemen used them).
I think I heard about using polarms by cavalry in late medieval, so it isn't so much unrealistic.

I am a fan of Empire armor, so i love the Lordly Empire Inlay Armor you can purchase from a secret store .
For a helmet i choose the Noldor Knight helm, it matches in color and its extremely strong, and cool.
then you have your platemail boots and gauntlets.

For weapons i carry a Barclay Noble Sword, since i love my Barclay heritage and an ebony flamberge. Total badassery i must say., and a heraldic heater shield.

I play more infantry than horseback, but i switch back and forth. These are the summation of what i want as my final armor, i usually mix and match stuff that looks good, plus i secretly add stuff to my game for my own use  from other resources :p

Form over function. I don't care about every single point, as long as it fits the overall style. Luckily most badass items look pretty good too.

Aragorn, Lvl 32 - Intelligent Ranger

Weapons:
Noldor Longsword        (lend from Lethaldiran. He will have it back someday, i swear)
Golden Roundshield      (Loot from Singals or maybe Valkyries. Looks simply awesome and has good stats too)
Ruby Rune Bow            (yeah, i couldnt resist to use this cheaty item. This is my first char to actually use bows at all)
Noldor Arrows              (this time a gift from Diev)

Armor:
Barbutte                  (battered, 50 ac. Looks very nice tho. Had a Black Feather Bascinet before, but with the                          feather i couldnt see the crosshair  )
Elite Ranger Armor      (thick, most expensive item so far. Very stylish and excellent stuff. Will last for a long while)
Mettenheim Gauntlets  (Reinforced, 13 ac. A lucky catch in a shop)
Noldor Leather Boots  (again lend from Lethaldiran. He will have his own pair eventually)

This is a very effective build and won't have to many problems overall. Usually i prefer playing as a knight with some heavy lances, but not this time. Maybe sometime soon i will drop the bow, when i really dont need to kill anything personally to make a difference.

This thread would look soo much better with screenshots for each char. Alas, i am at work and i can't follow my own advice.

My latetest PoP char had the following equipment:

Long Knight Lance
Masterwork Warhammer - (the 1h blunt)
Shortened Military Scyte  - Just for the cool aspect of that weapon.

As armour, the best greaves and boots i could find, and the best singalian or D'shar Helmet and Armour i could find. Just going for the Mongol Lancer look.

(one to get mines map, and three to fully upgrade the weapon)

Where did you get all those gems from??  I got two, one from rane and one from red brotherhood.  Are yo guys killing those spawns that often?  They seem ridiculously tough to me, even with 175 guys in my army.

Spending qualis gems into elixirs and knight orders are better imho. As you said, 2 gems just to get a weapon doesn't cut it for me. And I can't fight spawns until I have at least a castle and order troops anyway.

3 large bags of broadhead throwing spears

Agi build with a few elixirs so I have 43 Agi atm

I either kite another big army to fight them, or kite them into a group of lords.  Generally, the army runs, and the lords chase it down.  I then help, and hope I get me a Qualis!

Polehammers are great. But I use the REAL polehammer. 50 speed, 50 blunt swungs. Got a balanced one. 53 speed, 53 blunt damage. Use on horseback, once you get use to that thrust you will destroy everyone with it. (Including most lancers)

Only issue is it is very difficult to fight more than one person with it. For that I switch to a masterworked great sword. (Regular great sword)

2 bags of D'shar arrow (1 large, 1 regular)

At first I felt like an idiot when I took Maltise's armor instead of the gem but the Dread Legion still spawns anyways even though she said she would never take up arms again.

Here's a fix for it so she doesn't ever spawn again if you banish her. This fix applies to Boris the Raven as well.

You have to take Kadan Bahadur Khan as a prisoner when the D'shar have 6 or less fiefs under their control. You can either take his ransom money or he offers his bow for his release.

1h/2h claymore, 2h pendor sword, heavy cavalry lance, and any good shield(currently an empire infantry shield)

For armor it's a pendor heraldic plate mail, gauntlets and plate greaves.

I'm not trying to compensate for anything with having two swords.

A previous game of mine I used the Ruby, but I changed it up this time, and I'm liking the feel of the Emerald. That increase in accuracy really counts.

I'll try a combination that isn't ridiculously overpowered next time, or whenever I get bored of this guy. I'd use a foot soldier with a siege crossbow, but they're too inaccurate for their rate of fire, and they're easily outclassed by the runed bows. If there were legendary equivalents for crossbows, I definitely wouldn't hesitate.
