They seem to have really successfully rebranded themselves. I would actually consider getting one, assuming they're noticeably cheaper than their German equivalents of course.
They're quite pricey as well imo, more suited for middle aged people with steady jobs as some magazine said.
Yeah, I was looking at Volvo's website after you mentioned them; their stuff's expensive.
Not quite 'expensive' but they're definitely comparable to BMW and Mercedes rather than Honda, Toyota etc. XC90 could be listed under a premium class SUV tho. It's awesome nevertheless and also pretty much the safest car money can buy.

Whatever you do, buy a lawnmower or what-have-you if you like, but avoid overrated German cars like the Black Plague. Don't enable their cartel mafia. They're also among the least reliable brands. On top of that, their parts are hard (read: expensive) to replace when they break down.
You'll be happy to hear that I only drive old American cars.

It is hard to talk **** about Toyotas but they're not cool anymore. Besides that 86, but it's a Subaru in drag anyway.

Pffttt.  New Toyotas are where it's at.
New Hondas look way better than anything Toyota has to offer. Oh wait, that's not just with the new models.

Sorry but Honda has nothing to match this.  Nor Nissan either.

Honestly looking at the latest C-HR it feels like a cheaper Honda knockoff. I know most automakers tend to look more and more visually similar, but I think Honda's pulling off the strong chiseled lines look better than Toyota.

Also speaking of Camry, heard it's coming to Europe next year. Wonder how popular it will be round here since the market's pretty much dominated by SUVs or tiny cars.

Got the alternator on the Vic, drove it around a bit to the store and stuff. Drives like a dream but there's an inconsistent lifter tap. Well not actually a lifter since it's got overhead cams, but noise coming from the front of the heads. We're looking at replacing the oil pump as well as timing chains, guides, etc. Gotta tear the front off to be certain before I go spending the 135 in parts, but I don't really see what else it could be. Practically every engine accessory is new now between me and the last owner. So far everything I've heard about Ford vs Chevy is proving to be true. With Chevrolet you get a vehicle that falls apart around the drivetrain. With Ford it's the opposite.

I know it's a Bromdenpost, but if you ask me, the V90 Cross Country is where it's at, at least aesthetics-wise: it's long, low, and sleek. I've been watching a lot of Shetland, lately; I think the main character drives a V90 (either that or a V60; I'm not completely sure, though I'm leaning towards it being the V90) in season 4, and I've been admiring it. You're right about them being for middle-aged people with good jobs, though: I don't think I should be buying one anytime soon.

Bought a secondary car today to my e60 530i. Cherokee XJ with a RC 3 inch lift kit on it, but planning on making it a 5 or 6 and get some sexy wheel arch extensions.   4.0 l

Got it pretty cheap too

Yes, I don't know how common they are abroad but like half the old Cherokees are RWD. They even made RWD Wranglers for a while for some reason.

Unpopular opinion: The first Jeep was the best one. They've gone downhill from there, from a pure offroader/workhorse perspective.

What I'm really saying is that it's the one closest to a tractor.

The first jeep is the jeepest jeep

I don't understand owning a Jeep if you don't at least plan on taking it off-road. Most of them are mediocre at being actual cars.

Not new ones anyway.
I'm really just counting the pre ~2000 Jeeps as actual Jeeps, their lineup got really weird and street centered sometime around 05 when they brought out **** like the Patriot and Compass. Then they turned the Cherokee into a high tech family car (so high-tech people could remotely hack into them and control the steering). Wrangler is still ok tho
