The hood on my Silverado flew up on me doing 60 a few weeks ago, so the bodywork it needs is now literally everything in front of the cab. On top of that it needs front suspension soon, and brakes so the cost to fix it is well beyond the value of the vehicle. So I bought an 02 Crown Vic (civilian model) with 150k miles, a couple weeks ago for 500 bucks. Only needed an alternator and fuel pump. I got the fuel pump in and drove it today, and holy **** is it a smooth driving car. Why did the US have to stop making RWD V8 boat cars? I'll get some pictures of it later on when the sun goes down a bit and it's not heatstroke weather.

Edit: They're pulled up to my fence so it's hard to get good pictures but hey.

What happened to Australian car companies is actually a tragedy, there's so many cool cars that stopped being made because of it.

Man, the latest Volvos look amazing. Both exterior and interior wise. Except for those crab claw looking tail lights.

Which ones did you have in mind, in particular?

And yeah, I've been noticing a few Volvos around recently. They look neat.

New volvos look visually nice. It is a shame they only do 4-cylinder cars now tho  The XC90 feels mighty underpowered when driving it

They seem to have really successfully rebranded themselves. I would actually consider getting one, assuming they're noticeably cheaper than their German equivalents of course.

After driving a V6 the past two years, I don't think I could ever go back to driving a 4-cylinder. The difference is incredible.

Whatever you do, buy a lawnmower or what-have-you if you like, but avoid overrated German cars like the Black Plague. Don't enable their cartel mafia. They're also among the least reliable brands. On top of that, their parts are hard (read: expensive) to replace when they break down.

I'd take an I4 over a V6 90% of the time. In most cases there's not enough of a power gain to justify the added weight. And V engines are generally much harder to work on, especially if it's FWD and the V6 is sitting sideways. The only thing I'd take a V6 over an I4 in is a RWD truck or SUV where you need the torque.

I drive a Toyota Avalon. It's a pretty big car, but the power gain is pretty major compared to my experience in my previous car (an I4 Camry) and my dad's car (an I4 Honda CRV). Acceleration is far quicker onto the highway. I used to have to floor the pedal to get it up to speed, but in the Avalon I can give a pretty leisurely press of the foot and have it leaping up to 65 well before the ramp ends.

Sure, it's harder to work on, but that's a tradeoff I'm happy to take, especially since Toyotas are generally reliable and cheap to maintain.

Generally the 4 cylinder cars that arent ecnoboxes will have a turbo 4 thesedays, which generally will maek the same power and more torque than the v6's they replaced. Just don't make the torque at the same point, so i guess it comes down to driving style? Need to make sure you're in the right gear moreso with a turbo 4.

Also, a v6 is probably going to be lighter than a turbo 4 due to the fact they kind of 'share' cylinder block space, have a shorter crank, etc

It's really just personal preference I guess. Generally the v6 versions of regular economy cars aren't THAT much faster, where you end up with some middle of the road vehicle that isn't really fast, doesn't really get good mileage, and is a ***** to work on. Of course I own two pretty slow vehicles with V8's, so I'm not talking **** about anyone's choice in cars for sure.

They're quite pricey as well imo, more suited for middle aged people with steady jobs as some magazine said.

All new Volvos are hybrid or electrified, that could make up for the lack of a V6.

Personally I'd love the new Polestar S60. All 20 of them sold out in the US in 39 minutes.

Yeah, I was looking at Volvo's website after you mentioned them; their stuff's expensive.
