I really miss Fight&Destroy. It was really fun, especially since we played it quite alot in beta.

Agreed, its one of the gametypes were looking at maybe designing new maps for. We're considering hosting a server to play CTF, F&D and Conquest on some sort of weekly rotation.

My own personal belief is that there is nothing fundamentally wrong with those three gametypes, rather its the maps that they are played on that just don't suit it. For instance some of the flag locations on the default maps for conquest are basically in the middle of nowhere. CTF flag spawns are terribly imbalanced on pretty much all the native maps and the locations of the catapults on F&D often just seems a bit arbitrary.

I used to play F&D a fair bit back in the beta as well.

I mean I like duel, but unfortunately in Europe, the only servers I know of that get played are Ndtions_Duel_Server and the Swadian_Duel_Server, but they only get half filled most of the time.

I left duel out because I wanted the game types that I know or I am unsure about that have the potential to be filled, I know that duel isn't consistant at staying full.

Nothing against duel though, I like to duel my self.

Didn't 22nd have a big conquest event? put up a conquest server with conquest maps and fix spawns so that players spawned on flags and spawned in waves? The server had about 70 players on it for a few days, i couldn't play myself due to lag and fps.

Edit: http://forums.taleworlds.com/index.php/topic,143001.msg3434454.html#msg3434454

Yes! Thats exactly what we need to do. We don't know how to do it though unfortunately  I would love to try and gather people to host the event though if i knew what to do about the spawns. Other the spawns, the game type is great.

If someone knows how to do this please contact me!

Find and Destroy. The Wolfpack Den server ran it a few times this evening, a lot of public players and we told them its like battle, but with extra objectives, and they seemed to enjoy it more. The only problem is the poor balancing of the maps.

The default native behaviour of the spawns seems to simply pick a spawn nearest to the home flags of the two teams that is free. I would love to see Vince's modified version.

Ditto, I just wonder if he'd let us use it though

If so - great, then the possibility of Conquest becoming more popular is on the table, along with an (another) attempt to get conquest battle events sorted.

TDM, Battle, and Siege.

Fight and Destroy needs to have lives instead of being battle with stuff you can break if you live long enough, and conquest/ctf need to have their spawns fixed (Side-goal for Madmin, atm :3).

Wow an actually highly relevant poll.

IMO Battle is the "definition" of Warband MP (using the term loosely of course). That said, I do play deathmatch the rare occasions I can't find a decent Battle server with players on.

May rarely play incognito on Duel servers, since I mostly play cav though it's not that useful to me. I can't really reliably block either, even when my connection is nice to me.

Never liked Siege, it's like playing Village and Nord Town over and over again (ok, there a somewhat stronger objective but it's possible to ignore in practice).

Of the odd modes I might play CTF but it has been a few months since.
Edit to clarify as per request: These odd modes especially have the issue that it's possible for most players to ignore them the objective. E.g. CTF often is like TDM while occasionally telling me "random cav who cares about objective for score reasons has captured the flag".

Its a shame though taleworlds didn't bother with creating or fixing maps so it was suitable for all game types, not just the ones which are now currently popular.

If I am able to get hold of the spawn fixes and spawn in waves etc, like in MM conquest, then I might try and invest in a conquest server or something, maybe a weekly or fortnightly conquest battle event?

I'm glad to see these results on the polls, I'll let them run for a couple more days, but all this topic needs are comments explaining why the game types that got less votes, are unpopular.

Favorite for me would be TDM. I'm not a competitive player and I don't like being 100% perfect in my play. Instead, I'd much rather just participate in slaughterfests where amid the chaos tons of epic things can happen. I also don't like having to wait to respawn and get back into the action, and TDM is better than DM in this because in TDM you can easily get into true 1 vs many situations which are incredibly fun, even if I die more often than win.

Second favorite would be CTF, and it's really sad that CTF gets so underplayed. It's basically TDM with an objective, so you get all the action and epicness of TDM while trying to do something else than just boosting killcount. On top of that, you can ninja around on CTF maps and take the flag when the other team is least expecting it, and that's a lot of fun. If I played CTF more I'd probably make this my first choice, but since it gets played so rarely, it's my second choice.

Third favorite from your list would be siege, which is TDM with an objective but with excruciatingly slow spawns (on both sides, since attackers still need to walk across the map again every time they spawn) and alot more camping archers.

I don't like battle much. I can see why lots of skilled and competitive players would like it since doing well in battle takes the most skill out of all the game modes, but having to wait a whole minute before playing again because you got slightly careless and headshotted by an archer behind you? That's not fun for me.

Duel is also nice, but it's not on the list

Yeah duel is nice, but I didn't put this on because this is research and information for me and for others who wish to set up a server and want to know what game types are popular, what are not and for what reasons.

I think everyone has played duel and at least casually likes a 1v1 from time to time, but I don't see many servers running duel and actually get filled. The ones that do get players, most of the time they only get half filled.

I miss CTF too, I actually made a little trenches map which was good for CTF, though it was designed for mods with muskets and rifles, still fun with native

I remember the first few months of Nditions_Duel_Server (bassicly the first few months of Warband) but the server rarely was empty, always got 40 people, I remember times when the server was full and I could not join!

Are you talking about the times that nditions was a duel server in principle, but it was in deathmatch mode?

True, I remember the olde Einherjar Duel Server days. And that damn Ghandi blocking machine...

Also, I reckon that F&D and Conquests get so few votes because they are so rarely played, not all players have ever played them. But that might just be me. Also, the maps for F&D were ill suited for the task.

That and they're kindof broke. Conquest has horrible spawning and F&D needs to be more than just battle with things you can break.

I agree with you Kazzan, when I switched the server to F&D, people asked, "how does this work?", there were at least 30 on and over 20 of them asked how it worked =/.

Madoc, yes the conquest game mode is pretty much broken in terms of spawns, I really wish it was fixed though Vince has made a version so people spawn at the flags they captured, they spawn in waves etc...
