Hello all!

Firstly, let me explain how this is relevant to Warband Multiplayer. Having considered setting up another server or other players who are considering getting a server for a first time, I believe this might be useful for everyone who does want to set up a server to find out which game types are popular and which are not, so that the player hosting the server, can see whether or not running the server is worth doing so.

Secondly, I must say this. This topic IS NOT a dicussion about "How there are other good servers already" or "no more are needed." Fine, whatever, I understand that, but personally, I'm not the one to set up a server for the hell of it, it will be set up for a reason which I'll explain if any one is interested. If so, just comment.

Please, I kindly ask not to troll this topic (too much...  :wink:), as I think it might be interesting to see some results and constructive comments

*Please note: I have not included duel in the poll, as I think every player plays on duel to practice melee skill, at least any way.
 
Siege - I love the big battles, although I get annoyed with archers, I have lots of fun on this. :wink:

I also chose Team Deathmatch and Battle. :grin:

Although I played in beta and since the release of Warband, I've never played Capture the Flag or Find and Destroy.
 
Well I think the main problem with this poll is that forum goers don't really represent the community. I imagine Battle players will be overrepresented here, since there will be a higher proportion of competitive players. Whereas, in actual fact Battle servers are probably the hardest to fill.

Will still be interesting to see how it goes though. Might be a nice precursor to a tournament for a different gametype (something I'd love to see).

EDIT: Already Conquest and Find and Destroy are slipping behind. Shame really because I think they could be good fun... just never really an opportunity to play them in a populated server.
 
Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch and CTF. Battles can be fun, if the people playing aren't camping pussies or use multiple/heavy shields.

But I absolutely HATE siege. People camp, long respawn time, lots of shielders, and more.
 
Capture the flag isn't doing too badly I guess  :???:

Conquest and Find and destroy, the reasons behind them slipping could be; Poor balance and game play due to maps not being designed for them or it could be to do with many players who havent played those game types due to having a bad experience with it. I admit, those game types are ones that you need a good number of players for, just like battle. :razz:

I didn't add duel for a few reasons;

1) Not really a game type you could make a fun event out of, unless your that kind of duelist who likes to be competativee.
2) Servers rarely get filled

I don't know, i just didn't add it.

I think we need organisations for "capture the flag" and "find&destroy" modes. Just like "european league", "duelling tournament" or "5-side tourney". Up for the task lust :razz:?
 
Fight and Destroy ? think i have played it just once ... it still exist ?

I personally think its the maps, if we can get people to make good maps that specilise in these game types, people will play it more often.

I'd be happy to help orginise a few things in future :razz:

I havent seen any known servers that run it. Just like battle, it requires a lot of players to make it more enjoyable.

Srry bro, but basically the only competitive tournaments being played at the moment are based on either battle- or duel mode. The first event involving an actual money prize is a duel tournament being played at this very moment.. Its the only gametype where individual skill is the only factor.. and its one of the easiest gametypes to actually make an event for.

Normally I would tell someone to just go take a look at some duel servers, but Im fairly sure Ive seen you on nditions a few times.. sooo wtf?

And who mentioned anything competitions and went into detail about it? I'm pretty sure that this topic is favourite 3 multiplayer game types. Not for people like you to start going on about dueling being competative tyvm.
 
My favorite game mode is Battle, then Duel.

The Duel game mode should have been added regardless of reasons for it being first or third. Just as battle is most favorite to people regardless of why hmm?

Now let us move henceforth into the upcoming poll results for the game modes that werelisted!

Its in the back of my mind. Me and a few members of Wolfpack are having server arrangements, and having more ppl willing to support the server, we are thinking whether or not it would be wise to increase the number of slots we have, allowing us to obviously have more players and maybe have events in the community on particular game types, not just battle, duel or siege.

The other option would be to reduce the number of slots we have, so it then becomes more viable to run as its more likely to be filled, but then creating a second server running a different game type.

Again, they are just thoughts, no real plan has been finalised. Enough of those plans anyway, its just interesting to see how the results turn out, but they already seem to be taking shape.

Having tested the conquest game mode, I realise why it isn't popular, people don't spawn at the flags they capture, its almost random, its a shame that this cannot be changed unless taleworlds fixed this. The Mount and Musket devs however managed to do this with a flag spawn selector.
