So I've decided I'm attacking Eyegrim and his army so I can finally capture him and ransom him for a Qualis Gem...

However...

Moving my entire army across Pendor and begging the attack, I finally win!!

Problem was, Eyegrim dies. He dies EVERY TIME... I can't capture him if he's dead...

So....

I beat down every single one of his enemies except for him. I've got it down to around 500 troops vs just Eyegrim...

Then I realize no-one has a blunt weapon...

I take a big sigh and restart the WHOLE PROCESS.... only to find that every time I hit Eyegrim with my new mace, he DIES as well....

I've even taken other blunt weapons from my soldiers...

Still he dies..

How in the hell am I supposed to get him unconscious?

never met the dude yet

but if he is a hero (has the 100% etc behind his name)
when you get him to 0 % he should go automaticly to unconcius.

you are the one that engage in battle? not a lord and you join in? (just to make shure)

Yep I'm the one who started the fight...

My other lords jumped in to help (I'm the King).

So annoying not being able to get it right... I've tried many times so I don't think its a %chance thing because he dies EVERY TIME...

I hate to be the one to tell you this.

But Eyegrim cannot be traded for a qualis gem.
He just is programmed to die every time. Only "heros" that have %'s behind their names on the world map can be traded for qualis gems, like wolfbade.

However you can take heart if you looted one of those massive axes from them because they can win battles in the hands of a companion.

Hahaha nice...

Damnit.. It says Eyegrim can be traded somewhere in the FAQ... shouldn't learn to trust these things haha.

I'll have to settle for one of those axes then eh?

Nah, FAQ's are fine - it's just outdated. Eyegrim truly could be ransomed for QG, but only in 2.5 version, not 3. In the 3 PoP you can ransom only "lord-like" characters with health bar. Eyegrim is listed as unit, as well as three seers.

Totally wrong.
Without %, they´re still a hero. What they aren´t is immortal. Anything with a healthbar survives a battle if knocked out for sure and may or may not be captured.

The undeads who haven´t got such a healthbar are still considered as heros and should have a Qualis Gem which you may loot in their inventory but they aren´t capturable by the odd sideeffects caused directly from them.

ye heroes ment something diverent when i said it :p

when i ment heroes i ment people that can't die like your self (ingame ofc, and your companions

If Eyegrim dies, does this mean he won't respawn?

I hate fighting him because his army is tough.  I don't want to fight him and then see him respawn again.  I usually wait until the heretics are near obliteration before I fight him.

Haning read this thread I am thinking my module is corrupted. In my last game pretty much every large army I fought seemed to result in the hero being captured and the offer of money/gem/never come back option appeared talking to him. I added the last mini patch, and I have won against at least 5 large armies but not captured a single hero! I have managed one gem from you now where, but that is all, even started two wars fighting to help the Nolder to get a plus 5 relationship with them.  :???:

If you got one captured, you should get the option if you talk to him in your prisoner train after battle occured. The option isn´t available during the capture. Youn only get the option to keep or release him there.

It´s just the same as with the Noldor - in order to get the +1 relation with them you have to talk to them after you you capture them.
The chance to capture a unique spawn is random - it´s something like 40% to capture or not capture it. If you´re one not after heavy loot or if the unique spawn´s already small you can always break the fight and leave the unique with little troops, save, engage, crush and reload if you don´t capture it.

Eyegrim has the same chance as every other unique spawn hero to be resurrected and raise from the dead again to harass you. At least, that´s what I assume. Since I usually keep the difficult undead spawns around till lategame for tactical and strategical purposes (eg. keeping the Fierdsvain occupied) I´m usually not fighting them more than once.

However, in my games, it´s usually Wulfbode and the dreaded Jatu Leaders who´ve a vitiality to respawn 5 seconds after I wrestled a win out of their hands. I had one game where I simply left Zulkar after I defeated him twice to roam the map the third time he came back.

Except for Eyegrim, who dies, you can get a gem for the other named specialty spawns if you beat them and they don't get away.  If they get away, they can respawn, including Eyegrim.  If he dies, he won't respawn.

As to the dialogs - click talk while the specialty spawn is in your prisoner lineup and follow the options.  You will then receive the option to kill him, retire him or ransom him.

Locking this since the question is answered and the posts belongs in the "Questions about Gameplay" thread anyhow.  Please, in future, rather than starting a new topic, post in the consolidated threads meant for that purpose.  It makes it much easier for players searching (hah, haha, like anybody does) for an answer before posting a question in a new topic if questions are put in the appropriate threads.
