Yarn of insignificant questions

I had a dream where I threw a harpoon throwing knife.
It looked something like this:

You throw the knife and it's then rolled back into a sheath under the wrist.
In the dream the knife was balanced so you could throw it in any way and it would always point forward.
Would such a thing even work? It looks stupid, but in the dream it was really cool ?

With a little bit bigger and stronger throwing mechanism i think it could work but an assasin's creed style wrist mounted crossbow would be a much better weapon.
The picture reminded me of this movie.

After a little google search i learned the chained weapons' name. It's called kusarigama and martial arts related to it is called kusarigamajutsu. It means that you can buy one, learn to use that thing in a japanese dojo and can actually be cool

What are the local popular foods of your country that tourists don't get to eat because it's not served in the restaurants? The answers don't have to be full-meals, single items like special jams also work.

Britain and America have loads of these, they're usually specific snacks like jaffa cakes or pickle spread or whatever. As far as meals go, you could never buy a proper roast dinner somewhere because theyre just far too massive and take too long to make, so you always get a cut down version which is basically warmed up.

Sometimes it's for the best that it's hard to find places to eat local traditional foods.
Some of them are objectively gross - they were typically developed in times of food scarcity out of need and not out of culinary exploration. Many locals love them or tolerate them just because they got used to the taste from a young age. This is how poor dishes are perpetuated and it's awful. The local examples here are tripe and blood sausage, but every nation has their own, particularly in places that suffered famine in the past.

Hm, interesting question. I don't think there's anything that has completely escaped commodification and touristification. We even started selling a Hungarian pastry that no one's had heard of just 15 years ago as "traditional, medieval Old Bohemian snack" in tourist traps

We have blood sausage too and its faithful sister liver sausage. You can buy them in stores, but they are not shilled to tourists too much afaik. The proper ones are home-made from the pig you(r close relative) slaughtered.

Some sweet meals like sweet fruit-filled dumplings, zemlovka (absolute yum) or sweet pasta with ground poppy seeds. You can get them in some restaurants, but tourists are usually confused and put off by a sweet, sugary main course.

Depends on who is asking. If it's a social worker coming to get your kids for negligence, then you say it was only the dessert and the kids just look skinny because they exercise a lot. You evil person.
If you are merely asking yourself because you can't be assed to make a proper dinner, then it's a proper meal, because you are a lazy sod who will always cut corners for convenience and never go above and beyond your duty and probably blame immigrants for your failures. You evil person.

Why do so many men want to be women and not the other way around? Is "gender dysphoria" asymmetric?
I have a cynical, uninformed view that some of the "excess" dysphoric men are escaping the traditional responsibilities assigned to males by the society. Maybe they got the impression that women have it easier during their childhood, while males are trashed if they are failed providers.
I'm sure this is proven wrong somewhere, but it makes so much sense to me!

lmao

yes, very sympathetic neutral to get pissy about being mildly ribbed over expressing a deeply transphobic view. i merely confirmed your own assessment of your assumption (cynical, uninformed) was indeed correct after answering your question. such drama.

Childhood proper, probably. Puberty definitely not.

I read something the other way around that girls are becoming trans en masse, because they see the free and ubiquitous porn and think to themselves that if that's what girls do, then they would rather not be girls.

I don't know about its effect on trans rates, but (mainstream) porn has definitely gotten so much more brutal. Do young people even have just sex anymore.
