Sorry if this has already been posted, but I couldn't find anything with the search function.
I'm looking for games set in the early modern age (1500-1750), whether be they strategical or RPG, I don't care. Fantasy is allowed in small portions, but absolutely no magic. Of course, any pike&shot modification of non-modern age games is welcome, too.
Here's a brief list, to avoid repetitions:
-Age Of Empires III;
-The Cossacks series;
-The American Conquest series;
-M&B: With Fire And Sword;
-The Assassin's Creed series;
-ad libidum...

Well, Europa Universalis III + expansions covers 1399 to 1821 or so. That's a grand strategy game though, so it may or may not be what you're looking for.

The Guild II and it's various stand-alone add-ons. Albeit they're buggy and somewhat aimless. I like them though. Combat mostly resorts to thugs burning down competitors buildings and street fencing, Romeo & Juliet stuff, really.

I don't really know if you could call that the modern era, but sure.

Mount and Blade: Fire and Sword, is somewhat around that time frame. 15th- 16th centuries anyways.

Hmm, Shogun 2 is somewhere in that timeline, right?
It is, but my PC would melt just trying to zoom on the 3D map :mrgreen: . Same for Empire; I tried it once, it was laggy as hell.

Dear, I completely forgot about EUIII. Very good game indeed. Time to see what are the new expansions and mods.

Anno 1701 & Settlers VII, though neither are really combat focused.
I know the Settlers series, but it's just way too...cartoonish, if you get what I mean. I will give Anno 1701 a try, though.

17th century, actually. Eastern Europe is an interesting location in that period, and I loved Sienkiewicz's trilogy, but the whole game doesn't appeal me. From what I've read, it's basically a big total conversion for Warband with some gains and losses in terms of features. Guess I'll wait for some modules to come out.

The amount of cartoony in Settlers varies wildly with each sequel. I don't remember which I played.. but it was more grim dark than the others.
