I am leh confoozd.

I flew about a bit, jumped gates, but I don't really know where to start. Is there a really good guide out there? Most I've seen are rubbish for new players.

how is the game for you i just want to start my company or empire in that game when i get one

Depends what you want to do. If you want to trade, made energy runs early, preferably with a freight class ship. If you want to fight, then do escorts, raids, pirating etc.

Oh, it's quite fun, but the beginning is always...

I always wanted to try this, but somehow never managed to get it when I had money to spare
The demos for Reunion and Terran Conflict seemed fun, but while the latter seemed a lot easier to get into, the former seems to have a lot less issues. Performance wise, after skimming through the forums..

I tried it out and was confused right away and waiting for ever to fly places pissed me off.

Go to options: set SETA to x10, then when you fly, press J...

Whoopie doo - flight time is reduced by 90%.

Just get X3:R and download the X-Tended Mod.

I was looking for that for quite a while on the forums, although whenever I happen upon a viable link it's always some sort of little compatibility patch thing used for scripts. I've only been able to locate the fusion mod at the moment.

I bought both X3 games when they were on sale for a weekend and well...A waste of $27. I played X3:R for about 20mins before I just gave up. I can't commit to that kind of game. I need instant gratification, which is the same reason I don't play MMO's.

It's only hard until you get your first freighter. Until then you just need to go and capture pirate ships, which isn't even a very bad profession considering the price of teladi pirate falcons, they're a ***** to take down with impulse weapons though.

There were a thread somewhere which roughly explained the chances of capturing enemy ships. It was a pretty complicated formula. Starts off with the fact that there is 1 in 8 chance that a ship is simply uncapturable no matter what. If it is capturable then there are capture intervals, whenever armor goes below certain points a check is made. I think there were 5-6 such points, the best being when the armor is at 80'ish percent and the worst obviously being when the armor is almost gone altogether. On top of that there was some kind of timer which reduced the chances by a few percent for every 30'ish seconds that the combat has progressed.

Basically, best way of capping ships would be to hit them as hard and fast as possible

I found TC better, especially with the far better interface. There are mods for TC as well. My problem with the game is the problem I have with all games - it becomes repetitive and pointless. Adding ships, adding credits, adding provinces, adding agents, more troops etc.

I can say that about life in general .

Yeah, but it's worse with R3, because the moment you realise it's utterly pointless, is also the moment you realise you've spent 254 hours of your life figuring that out.

I played my first game for several hours before figuring out that they hadn't given me a gun for my spaceship. The second game, I picked the Custom game, which doesn't have any missions (my bad, but jesus) or direction. After spending around 8 hours on that, I finally got started. I think I persevered out of sheer spite.

I think there were a few hours in the middle which I quite enjoyed though.

The X-Universe has a set of links

XTM's free, I can't pay for a D2D since the download itself will take me several months to finish.

So I started using my Mercury I gained from Quickstart, and things seem to be going well, now that I sat down for an hour to get a few things straight. I can use the system map, and the galaxy map efficiently, so I thought I would jump in my Buster tomorrow and capture a few raiders.

Quick question: After I deploy a station, will it be stuck in that particular sector forever? Because I might need to redeploy a few of my SPP's once I start my shield production complex.
