Wound Treatment: any good for the hero?

Hello all
Just a simple question concerning the Wound Treatment skill:
could it be good to put 1 maybe 2 points in it for our character, even if it is a party skill?
(and thus can be learned by Marnid or Borcha...)
For now I play with a large group, but later, when I will be higher level, soloing could be very interesting. In that case, I will be less "Marnid/Borcha-dependant"
And of course healing my wounds faster will be very handy.
Oh and I have read somewhere that it heals my horse too, is it right?
How do you see it yourself?

Um, yes? Even if you intend to take Marnid or Borcha, having one or two points yourself increases the level you can have one of the NPC's learn it to before incurring penalties. Faster healing = more battles = more loot.

Oh and I have read somewhere that it heals my horse too, is it right?

It does appear to increase the rate a horse heals at.

If you plan to go solo, First Aid will be more important to you.  It gives you back hitpoints lost during a skirmish. Points in Wound Treatment are useless if you are taken out by a lucky crossbow bolt and you have no First Aid to get back in the fight.

Yup. Especially, if there is a huge battle with a smaller battle size. It can save your life there.

Um, if he's soloing then he won't get a chance to use first aid. As soon as the character is KO'd the fight would be over ....

You Sir have a bizarre perspective for the meaning of "interesting". 
IMHO it's better to have at least a couple of cannon fodder - err, I mean "companions" with you so you
won't have the undivided attention of your enemies!

Even the best of fighters can be taken down if you get swarmed by enemies.
